Happy Friday! Today is one of my least favorite days to work in an elementary school. The first 8 April Fools jokes are funny, but after that it’s a loooooong day! I teach about 1/3 of the school tomorrow so the 2:15 pm end of day bell will definitely be a favorite.

Favorite 1: JACK!! Jack turned 13 yesterday and had a pretty great day! He got a bunch of happy birthday shout outs on the school announcements. Jack and Jeff played a round of golf before it stormed. We had Hoffman’s ice cream cake and peanut butter bars for birthday dessert. Hoffman’s is a family owned ice cream store near us that has the absolute best ice cream and their cakes are spectacular!

Favorite 2: LUKE!! We’ve had some fun together this week. On Wednesday, I took this picture to document that he only has 50 days left in elementary school! Yikes!

We played Heads Up together when his soccer practice was cancelled for the polar vortex on Monday.

Last night we were working at the counter together. We are having significant computer issues at school so Luke was working on an assignment that he couldn’t do at school today. I was trying to catch up on some work since I’m spending a good bit of my planning time working on tech issues with a recent driver update that’s affecting half of the laptops in our school. FYI – that tech issue IS NOT a favorite!

Favorite 3: BOOKS!! I was hoping to be finished The Wedding Veil today but I have not been able to read as much as I was planning. It’s so good that I am almost glad to not be finished, if you know what I mean. I’ll probably finish this weekend though.

I shared my first Tuesday Book Release Day post of the year. There are a lot of fun books coming out in April! You should definitely check them out!

The Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL) has an award called the Black-Eyed Susan Award. MASL creates a lists of nominees and children vote for the book they think should win. The list of nominees came out Thursday and I went straight to our public library website to put holds on books. I like to read the picture books before I purchase them for my school library. I also help select a set of books for our Battle of the Books competition from the nominees so I need to read as many 4th – 6th grade chapter books and graphic novels as I can before June. I love to see the books they select!

Favorite 4: SUNSHINE!! The weather has not been cooperating since we got back from Florida! It has been FREEZING!! We’ve had snow, wild winds, and so many clouds. I keep looking at our Florida pictures to remember that warm sunshine on my cheeks!

Favorite 5: FACIAL MIST!! I have been trying some new products on my face. I picked this up after Jen mentioned the toner. I love how it refreshes my face with a few sprays.

Favorite 6: CORA’S DEN!! In addition to working on wearing as many of my clothes as I can, I am also trying to wear more of my jewelry. I love these bubblegum necklaces and swap out the monograms/shapes all the time. Sometimes I even go without a monogram. There are so many cute Easter and spring items right now! I’ll probably be placing an order this weekend! Don’t forget to use code SUNSHINEANDBOOKS10 when you order!

Hello Monday

What’s Up Wednesday
Happy Birthday Jack!
We only have two sporting events this weekend! I can’t believe it. One soccer game and one golf match. I’m hoping to read, share a Saturday blog post, catch up on some school work, and keep working on our vacation plans. I also have a lot of blog reading to catch up on. I love to read and comment on a bunch of blogs and I have not gotten around to it lately. Hopefully I’ll have some time this weekend! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Crossings is a great book. We read it then students built their own animal crossings as a STEM project. I was on our non-fiction book award committee for MASL(only Missouri) and it made the top 10. Don’t Hug Doug is cute too.
Oh girl I feel you with this “spring” so far- ugh- can’t wait for more sun and warmth! When I look at your outfits, though, they cheer me up- they are so bright and springy- keep doing that! Have a great weekend 🙂
You have had a busy week! 50 days left in elementary school. Wow! I hope you all have a great weekend. Hopefully the weather will warm up for you soon. It’s pretty chilly here too.
So glad Jack had a great birthday; that cake sounds delicious. I used to hate working on April fool’s day too! I am not really one for practical jokes so I never introduced that to my kids. I think we are finally going to have some nice warm sunshine again today but I don’t want to say that too loudly and scare it away!
I have The Wedding Veil on my library hold list and I can’t wait until it is in!
It was great!!!
