Happy Friday! If you read my post yesterday, you know we were definitely having a two hour delay on Thursday. Well, we ended up having a snow day but it was a total bust! It never got as cold as they predicted and the snow/rain stopped by 10 am. I enjoyed the slow start and no schedule for the day. I have a bunch of favorites from the week to share so let’s get to it.

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! I finished Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis. I loved it! I thought the book would chronicle eight hours together, but it was so much more. There were so many connections between the characters that it kept me reading trying to figure out what would bring them together next.

I also finished The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustian. It reminded me a of Where the Crawdads Sing and I loved it, too. There were some hard parts to read, but they were all worth it!

I shared all the books I gave as gifts on Christmas Eve as we celebrated the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod. There are some good ones in there!

Favorite 2: SARAN WRAP!! So I am naming Saran Wrap a favorite now, but we’ll have to see if I confirm it in December. I follow Tina on Instagram, @to_mimishousewego, and she said that she wraps all her Christmas trees in Saran Wrap. I had one tree left to put away and I wanted to put it away with the ornaments and lights on it. So, I wrapped it in Saran Wrap and hauled it down to the basement. Nothing moved and it was so easy! I’m hoping the unwrapping will be just as easy on November 25th when I get my tree back out.

Favorite 3: SNOW DAY!! On Thursday morning, I had the snow day signal on again. Thursday was our third snow day and the final snow day that we have built into our school calendar. The boys love having the snowflakes moving around the hallway when they wake up.

We had a great snowfall on Sunday! We took a family walk and enjoyed the peaceful snowfall. We had some yummy hot chocolate bombs and enjoyed some yummy chili in the evening.

Favorite 4: GAMES!! We have been playing a lot of games lately. Battleship and Guess Who have been heavy in our rotation. My mom gave Luke this game for Christmas and it is so much fun! It’s quick and so funny!

Favorite 5: CLEANING OUT!! I am still going strong with cleaning out this house! Last weekend, I hit all the bins in the basement and found some real gems!

I’ve been through all the big areas on my list, but I’m participating in a decluttering challenge with a friend. So we are tackling other parts of the house. Some I’m even going back over and finding more to get cleared out. This week I tackled my purse, cookbooks, a few drawers in my dresser, a junk spot (I did my kids’ catch all bins 😳), and I’m doing my desk during planning tomorrow. It feels so good to get it all in the best working order for our family!
Favorite 6: BETTY WHITE! Betty White would’ve been 100 years old this week. I celebrated her with lots of Golden Girls and this fun shirt from my friend Sarah.

Favorite 7: POOL!! Luke wasn’t going to make it to swim practice yesterday so I took him to the pool during the day to get some laps in. Jack met his basketball team in the gym to play. I bounced between the two spots and started a new book. I loved the first two in this series, Class and Rules, and am excited to read this one. The pool area is totally glass. It was lovely to be so warm and read in there with the snow falling outside.

We have a divide and conquer weekend ahead of us. Jack has a swim meet both days and a basketball game on Saturday night. Luke has a basketball game on Saturday and is swimming on Sunday. It’s going to be chilly again but we’ll make the best of it. I’ll be back on Monday for Hello Monday with Holly. Be sure to come on back and link up or discover a new blog or two. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Oh my gosh I haven’t seen that Saran Wrap idea but it seems genius! Please let us know how it goes when you go to unwrap it next season…I will be closely following along…have a great weekend friend!
I love your snow day signal and mine would have loved that! I love Jenny Colgan books. I can smell the chlorine in your photo! I have a love hate reaction. Swimming was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but love the smell. I did my best thinking while swimming the 500!
I loved Stilt House too. I follow Tina and had forgotten about the Saran Wrap idea. Can’t wait to see if it works for you. I love your family snow day photos. We are home again today. Streets are ok, but it’s cold and I guess some side streets are still icy. I also think Covid/sub shortage may be having an impact as well. I hope you have great weekend!
The saran wrap is such a good idea. Thank you for the book recommendations!
We had a 2 hour delay on Thursday and I was afraid it was going to turn into a snow day but it didn’t. I love snow days but hate the thought of making them up in those nice sunny days of June. I love your snowflake light.
I agree! I always say if it’s not going to be a really good snow day, I’d rather be at the pool in June than inside on a cold winter day.
