Hello Monday – 1/17/22

Happy Monday! We are off today and I am making the most of our three day weekend. I’m joining Holly for our Hello Monday post. I hope you’ll join us if you posted today, too!

I was planning on reading this book on Saturday and Sunday as I awaited some snow.

I started it, but didn’t get much reading done because I spent most of the weekend going through spaces in our house. I feel like a broken record, but I am on a tear to get this place cleaned out and put back together in a way that works best for us. When I was going through all the kids’ clothes, I realized it’s been a while since I’ve been through the bins in the basement. They were on my list for the weekend. I have some big rubbermaid bins under our stairs and some others on shelves in our workout area.

These bins were so much fun to go through!! First I went through the kids’ art and school keepsakes bins. I loved looking at their art work and writing from preschool and kindergarten. They both had silhouettes from preschool. Those sweet little heads made me smile!

I found a ton of pictures that my mom sent my way from when I was little all the way through high school. I went through my baby book and some momentos from when I was really little! There were a ton of newspaper clippings in there too. We lived down the street from the newspaper building and the photographers would take our pictures outside all the time!

I found a bunch of old swim meet programs. I used to swim for the YMCA and my parents entered me in some US Swimming meets too. My entry sheets made me smile! And I found a program from a meet I loved and my boys swim in now!

In 5th grade we had a “Star of the Week” and made webs about each person. Then, everyone in the class wrote about that person to make a book. I think these are both from 5th grade, but one may be from 4th grade. 😂

I also found these certificates. I have always been a reader! Apparently, I was destined to work in the media center, too!

We see the Rookie Driver bumper stickers all over town. Jack and Luke say that I should get one on our van so that people won’t honk at me so much. 😂 I found this in a bin from my mom. Maybe I’ll put it on my car now!

I found a bin of my trophies and some ribbons. I had fun comparing my times to the boys’ times at the same ages. I also found a bin of Jeff’s trophies, etc.But really, what should I do with all these? For now, they’re still in those bins.

I found these and burst out laughing! For our first anniversary, I chartered a boat for Jeff and I to ride around the Chesapeake Bay. When we got to the boat, we realized I’d chartered a fishing boat. The captain asked where our rods, bait, and cooler were for the catches. I looked at him and said the only thing in our cooler is cheese and champagne! He was a great sport about it, but it is a funny story that will forever live on!

I found a bunch of pictures in frames that I had in my room growing up. This is a classic Sarah and Jamie pose from college. I love this girl! That frame came out of storage and is going up in our house.

We were expecting snow and ice so I made chili in our crockpot. It was really good this time and a little spicy. I added Trader Joe’s everything but the elote seasoning and I think that’s what gave it a little kick.

Jack is usually my kid who is outside all the time. It was really cold this weekend and he had to find some ways to entertain himself inside. He’s had these helmets for years, but can always find a way to stay busy with them. Luke was off playing legos, doing a puzzle, and watching a Jurassic Park series on Netflix.

Once it started snowing, we headed out for a family walk. It was so lovely and peaceful!

The boys headed in and I decided to walk another lap. The cold air and falling snow were so refreshing!

We got about 3 inches of snow before it started sleeting/icing and raining. I am hoping to get some good reading in tomorrow. We’ll probably play a bunch of games because it’s supposed to be pretty cold again. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Likes Vanilla Ice and says “pity” a lot! Haha Haha! Hilarious! I channeled a bit of your cleaning energy yesterday. I am gonna do a goodwill drop off today. I like to get it out immediately! Happy day off!

That Media Helper certificate brings back a flood of memories for me. I also spent a lot of time helping Mrs. Gorman and her assistant Mrs. Martin at William Winchester. Mrs. Gorman’s daughter Meg was one of my best friends.

I recently went through an old bin of mine like that. It is fun!

I made chili Friday, added Elote from Trader Joe’s to mine too!

    Have a good week.

So neat seeing all those old school awards and papers. I haven’t saved anything from my school years or even the boys! I am definitely a no clutter person.
