Happy Friday! I am so happy to see this Friday! The weather is getting very summer-ish and I am here for it! I have a great list of favorites for you today so let’s get to it.

Favorite 1: VACCINES!! Jack is 12 and got his first Covid vaccine this week! Our county had a clinic and they vaccinated almost 1200 kids in one afternoon. To be honest, I got a little choked up when they announced it. It feels like another step in the right direction.

Favorite 2: SPORTS!! Luke finished up his lacrosse season and was awarded Rookie of the Year. He had so much fun and learned a ton!

Jack had a great game on Thursday! He has learned so much this year and is having a bunch of fun too!

Favorite 3: SUNSHINE!! We have been spending a ton of time outside this week. The weather is perfection! Luke wanted to build another plant fort after I kicked him out of my forsythia. I asked him to build his fort in the front shrubs because they really need some trimming. He was thrilled and so was I!

Jack’s mullet is getting so curly with the humidity rising. I love those ringlets under there. He has no plans to cut it anytime soon so I think it will only get curlier!

The boys have been riding bikes and scooters in the evening. Luke’s new scooter can make sparks and it looks so cool in pictures.

Favorite 4: CORA’S DEN!! I know I talk about Cora’s Den every week, but this time she has truly outdone herself. How incredibly fabulous is this tulip necklace??? I totally love it!!! You can get one too with code SUNSHINEANDBOOKS10.

Favorite 5: THEME DAYS!! Ok, to be honest, I really don’t love theme days at school. It’s stressful to find something for everyone to wear and sometimes I’m not in the mood to wear what the theme is. Hello mismatch day, I do not like you one bit! This week we are having a Super Hero theme week for the specials team. We decided to make it easy and have a color each day that is representative of a super hero. Thursday was red, white, and blue day. The Parsons LOVE red, white, and blue! In fact it was hard to pick what to wear.

I couldn’t have Media Super Hero day without this fabulous shirt!

Favorite 6: CICADAS! So these might not be a favorite in a few weeks, but the 17 year cicadas are starting to emerge in Maryland. Some people may think they are gross and they are ugly, but they’re harmless. I gave a few good science lessons in the backyard as we watched them go through the life cycle right in front of our eyes!

Favorite 8: BOOKS!! I’ve been sharing a bunch of book recommendations with kids this week from our public library for the Summer Reading program. It’s so fun to see them get excited about books!! Kourtni and I have started planning our Pool Book Club too. We are looking for a mix of new and old books that are great conversation starters. I’d love to hear any recommendations you have and why you think they’d be great for our summer reading. Thanks!

Tuesday Book Release Day #50

We have a pretty open weekend and I can’t wait! Jeff has to work a bit on Saturday and we are going to do a final grounds clean up at the pool on Sunday morning. It will be a good catch up weekend after being away last weekend. I am hoping to read a few kids’ books and finish the book I’m reading now. I also need to use the weekend to get my act together for the week – meal plan, pack lunches, get laundry put away, etc. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
