Happy Tuesday! I am so excited about the book I am sharing today, even though it makes me sad that the book has been written.
We had a good weekend! Both kids played a lot of games – soccer, baseball, and lacrosse. Jeff and Jack got out on the golf course. The weather on Saturday morning was GORGEOUS and we got peaks of sun the rest of the weekend. Jeff and I had a big calendar meeting to get our summer in order. My job now is to find as many visits to the beach as we can.
Reunion Beach: Stories Inspired by Dorothea Benton Frank by Elin Hilderbrand, Adriana Trigiani, Patti Callahan Henry, Cassandra King, Nathalie Dupree, Marjory Wentworth, Mary Alice Monroe, Victoria Benton Frank, William Richard Frank, and Peter Frank
Inspired by the title Dorothea Benton Frank planned for her next book—Reunion Beach—these close friends and colleagues channeled their creativity, admiration, and grief into stories and poems that celebrate this remarkable woman and her abiding love for the Lowcountry of her native South Carolina—a land of beauty, history, charm, and Gullah magic she so brilliantly brought to life in her acclaimed novels.
From Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author, a sequel to Summer of ’69.
From Adriana Trigiani, New York Times bestselling author, comes a heartwarming, humorous interview from the hereafter with Pat Conroy and Dorothea Benton Frank, two beloved icons of Southern literature.
From Patti Callahan, bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis and Surviving Savannah, comes The Bridemaids, a story about a trip to the South Carolina beach.
From Mary Alice Monroe, New York Times bestselling author, Mother and Child Reunion, a heartwarming story set under the warm South Carolina sun.
Reunion Beach also features letters, short stories, poems, and essays from:
- Mary Norris, New York Times bestselling author and staff writer for The New Yorker
- Cassandra King Conroy, bestselling and award-winning author of Tell Me A Story
- Nathalie Dupree, James Beard Award-winning cookbook author
- Marjory Wentworth, former Poet Laureate of South Carolina
- Gervais Hagerty, author of In Polite Company
- Jacqueline Bouvier Lee, Peter Frank, Victoria Peluso, and William Frank
Infused with Dorothea Benton Frank’s remarkable spirit, Reunion Beach is a literary homage and beautiful keepsake that keeps this dearly missed writer’s flame burning bright.
**As always, the summaries come from the authors’ or publishers’ website because they know it best.**

I had the pleasure of meeting Dorothea Benton Frank two times. The first time I had two little boys anxious to get out on the beach and I was awestruck meeting one of my very favorite authors. Her book The Hurricane Sisters is one of my absolute favorites. I highly recommend it! The second time I was with my mom at a book talk and DBF charmed the crowd in a most magnificent way. When we talked at the book signing, we made plans for her to come visit my school for her upcoming children’s book, Teddy Spaghetti. My local independent bookstore owner is incredible at securing authors for our school and community and I do not doubt that DBF would’ve visited our school if she were still living.
I’ll be back tomorrow for What’s Up Wednesday! Have a great day full of sunshine and NEW books!

Oh this is so special- I will definitely pick the book up- so amazing that they were able to put this together and what a wonderful tribute. Thank you for sharing Sarah
I know. It makes me so happy and so sad at the same time!
I’ve added this and Hurricane sisters to my good reads list. I see hurricane sisters is a part of a series? Do I need to read in order?? I love that you have been able to meet so many amazing authors. I’m so jealous
I bet you love it! The Hurricane Sisters isn’t part of a series. It is one of DBF’s Lowcountry books though. They’re all great!
Yes, good reads said “low country tales #9,” so I wasn’t sure.
