Good morning and happy Monday!
I have always been pretty good at meeting my goals when there is a specific plan – training for half-marathons, etc. – but I tend to struggle with general goals. I’ve been thinking about this a bunch as I am planning for 2020 when I turn 40. I decided to try to set specific goals this month and create a list of strategies that will help me reach my goal. OH MY GOODNESS! I just realized that I sound like I’m at work, setting SMART goals. Where is Summer Sarah?? Oh wait, it’s 10:20 and I’m just starting my Hello Monday post. She’s still here. Phew, I was getting a little worried and I bet you were too. 😉
☀️ Eat breakfast every day, and a spoonful of peanut butter doesn’t count.
Strategies: keep eggs in the house, have hard boiled eggs in the fridge, be sure to have yogurt in the house. Hard boiled eggs are one of my favorite breakfasts and I am great about having them ready during the school year, but have fallen off this summer.
☀️ Eat lunch every day, and hard pretzels at the pool don’t count.
Strategies: package dinner leftovers to be pool ready, keep a lettuce mix in the house for a yummy salad lunch.
☀️ Make dinner 5 nights a week when we’re in town.
Strategies: set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take something out of the freezer, inventory the freezer to see what’s there from our cow
☀️ Get back to strength training.
Strategies: add gym classes to my calendar, get up for 5:30 body pump 2x/week
☀️ Read a book with each kiddo.
Strategies: have boys swim in different swim team practices a few times a week, start bedtime a little earlier to read a chapter or two
☀️ Read 8 books, about 2 per week.
Strategies: set strict screen time limits on my phone, charge book light and keep it charged, spend lots of time by the pool 😎 , finish my summer beach reads (6 to go)
Those are my goals for the month. Here’s hoping that 8 days into the month I can achieve them. 🤞🏽 If you have any tips for meeting my goals, I’d love to hear them in the comments! Have a super week full of sunshine and books!!
