What’s Up Wednesday – 5/29/19

Happy Wednesday! I am linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for the monthly What’s Up Wednesday post. It’s a long one, but it is one of my favorite link ups fo the month. I get so many great ideas for books, clothes, dinners, and fun things to do when I read other people’s answers. Here we go…

Monday – burgers on the grill
Tuesday – at the golf club
Wednesday – Taquitos from Trader Joe’s
Thursday – some sort of chicken
Friday – something else chicken or pizza
Saturday – I have no idea 😂
Sunday – I have no idea 😂

I have been reminiscing about our crab pool. My sister gave Jack a crab sandbox for his first birthday. I’m not a huge fan of sandboxes so we turned it into a pool and used it for years. The kids loved it and I loved it when they were napping. The claws were perfect for resting my head and feet while reading and relaxing in the sun during nap time.

I am loving all of this ☀️!! The weather has been amazing and the pool is finally open. I have been running outside a bunch, which always makes me smile! Spending every day at the pool makes me so happy! We spent some time with friends each of the three days this weekend and it was lovely!

We have been knee deep in May. All over the internet I’ve seen how everyone is overwhelmed by all there is to do in May and I’m right there with them. We’ve had at least 5 baseball games a week, a soccer game, and some practices. We did make time to head to the golf course this week. It was my first time playing since the kids were born. I wasn’t super then and I’m still not super, but I had a bunch of fun and hit a few great shots.

Absolutely nothing. We have 14 days of school left and the pool is open. I am ready for what’s coming my way! 😎

I am working on a weeding pilot project in my library. I have a few sections that could use an overhaul and I’m ready to take it on in the next 14 days of school. I am also getting ready to dig into Common Sense Media’s revised digital citizenship curriculum. I love that website and I use it a lot as a mom and as a teacher. There are great reviews of movies, music, video games, and more for parents. I also love the lessons they have for teachers to educate their students on staying safe online.

I can’t wait for summer and all the fun things we have planned. We have a few trips to look forward to. We signed up for a program to explore our state parks. The boys are signed up for swim team and have a few camps this summer. We joined a local golf club and will be spending some evenings on the golf course.

I haven’t been watching much. The one show I’m really enjoying is The Golden Girls. It is on Hallmark at 10 pm and I watch it as I fall asleep each night. I love those ladies! I have also been watching Grace and Frankie and Dead to Me on Netflix while I run on the treadmill. They keep me going!

I have been reading a bunch. I shared my Summer Beach Reads a few weeks ago and decided to hold off reading them until I am officially finished with school. I shared a book I just read, The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis on Tuesday and I can’t wait to read another one of her books. Right now I’m reading Jenny Colgan’s new book, The Bookshop on the Shore, and I’m loving it. Her books are a cozy trip to the British Isles and I am excited to revisit the characters from The Bookshop on the Corner. We are starting a book club at our pool this summer. I’ll be sharing the books if you want to read along with us. As always you can check out the books I’ve read this year on my Books 2019 page and the books I read last year on Books 2018.

I’ve been listening to some podcasts when I run to change it up a bit. I like Another Mother Runner’s podcast a lot. It’s like talking with a friend while I’m running.

A lot of red, white, and blue lately. 🇺🇸

We rocked our Field Day shirts on Friday! The boys had so much fun and so did I!

The boys have 3 baseball games and the pool is open. That sums up our weekend. 😎

I am going to meet three of my favorite authors! My local bookstore really is the best!!! Swim team starts and school ends. We have a crab feast, movie night, and ladies night at the pool. The boys have a basketball camp and we are heading to a lake for a little vacation.

I’m looking forward to our summer of fun! I did see this on social media recently:

I’m trying to use that to set the tone for our summer. I am not of the mindset that I will entertain my kiddos 24/7 in the summer, but I am planning some fun things for all of us together.

We are headed to Jack’s spring concert tonight and I can’t wait to hear how wonderful they are. I’ve really been enjoying Jack’s practicing each afternoon! He’s improved so much!! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I am waiting for the days of sun, heat, and pool. We’ve had so much rain this spring.

Jenny Colgan is a new discovery for me and I just read The Bookshop on the Corner a few weeks ago. It will be great to catch up with Nina when I can get the latest one.

I LOVE your baseball t-shirt!!! Where did you find it?

And thank you for the summer perspective. That’s a good one.

I am hoping the sun and warmth will return soon; we had a nice long teaser of great weather this past Memorial day weekend and it hasn’t gotten above 60 since and it’s been pretty darn cloudy too. On the plus side we finished up our schoolwork today so we are officially on summer vacation!
