Happy Tuesday! I love Memorial Day Weekend and we had a great one! We got to the pool everyday, spent time with friends and family, and celebrated in my favorite small-town way!
On Friday, our school had Field Day. It is an incredible undertaking that starts at 3:45 am for our PE and Health teachers and custodial team. The student volunteers arrive at 6:30 am and we are ready to roll by 7:15 am when the students arrived. The third graders started the day with their annual dance and the teachers joined in for the finale this year.Jack and Luke had a great time all day! I was in the dunk tank again. And Jeff came from work in the afternoon.
I am nearing day 900 in my run streak so I started a training plan to make sure that i don’t feel terrible after running 9 miles that day. I headed out for a run on Saturday morning and the weather was beautiful!!
The pool officially opened on Saturday. We headed over early to help with the finishing touches before noon.
Luke and I had a great couple of hours before we joined Jeff at Jack’s baseball tournament. I forgot how exhausting a few hours at the pool can be. Luke slept through the first few innings of the game when we got there. Jack and his team played really well and won both games!
On Sunday, I headed back outside to get my run in before baseball.
Jack’s team played around noon so we didn’t make it to the pool in the morning. His team played 5 great innings of baseball. Unfortunately their games are 6 innings and they ended up not winning. This knocked them out of the tournament for the weekend.
We headed back to the pool for a birthday party and some quality friends time. Some of the dads had their mystery hat box draft.
On Monday, we were off to Westminster for the Memorial Day Parade. This parade is the longest running Memorial Day Parade in the country. There are Humvees, fire trucks, boy/Girl Scouts, Jeep clubs, corvette clubs, every service organization in the county, churches, marching bands, and majorettes. It is everything a small town parade should be!
We visited with my parents for a bit before heading back to the pool to keep our pool perfect attendance. 😎
I also read a great book! The Lemon Sisters by Jill Shalvis was an enjoyable read. It is part of the Wildstone series, but you don’t have to read them in order. This was book 3 and I had no trouble starting with it. Brooke and Mindy Lemon are estranged sisters that are thrown back together when Mindy finds herself on Brooke’s doorstep on the verge of a breakdown. Brooke steps in and takes Mindy’s 3 kids home. She heads home with a few goals, including apologizing to her former beau and getting back to her life of adventure. The secrets Brooke and Mindy have been keeping from each other and their loved ones come to light and they have to work to repair the relationships. I love family stories and this is a great family story!! Look for it June 18th. I can’t wait to read the other Wildstone books this summer! **I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.** ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️
The hardest part for me is staying in school mode now that the pool is open. We still have 15 days left with all the extra stuff too – baseball, swim team, concerts, and an out of town convention for Jeff. Fingers crossed I can keep it together. Have a great week full of sunshine and books!
