What’s Up Wednesday – 4/24/19

Hello! I have been totally blogging sporadically because spring has been so busy! I thought I would fall right into a routine and be blogging regularly, but as you’ve seen I have not. We pretty much have a practice or game every night and games both weekend days.

I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What’s Up Wednesday to answer these questions:

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Sunday: Easter dinner
Monday: Leftovers – hamburgers, pancakes, mac and cheese
Tuesday: Joe Corbi pizza – it was just as fabulous as it was 30 years ago!!
Wednesday: Out for me, nuggets for the kids
Thursday: Meatballs
Friday: We’ll grab something out
Saturday: I have no idea 🙂

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…
I am reminiscing about my babies. We celebrated both boys’ birthdays recently and they are getting so big! 8 and 10!

WHAT I’M LOVING…
I am loving all the sunshine and warmer weather. We have been outside a bunch!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
Sports, sports, and more sports. This month both boys have had swim meets, after school golf, and baseball games. Luke has been playing soccer, too.

We celebrated Jack’s 10th birthday by giving him a day. He got to pick everything we did for the day. Jack picked the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Odditorium in Baltimore and we went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. It was so much fun!! We’ve never been to the Ripley’s museum and didn’t really know what to expect. I was a little nervous that it would be weird and a little scary, but it wasn’t. It was actually really interesting and super interactive. The kids had a total blast!

The Hard Rock Cafe was delicious! Jeff and I hadn’t been to a HRC since high school and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The kids loved looking at all the rock and roll memorabilia and watching the music videos.

We celebrated Luke’s 8th birthday this month. Every year I do something with balloons while they are sleeping. I’ve decorated their door, hung balloons, used helium balloons just outside their rooms, but this year for Luke I made a balloon pit under his loft bed. It took me a few tries because he kept stirring, but it was worth it. He loved all the balloons and he made a bed balloon pit later that afternoon.

WHAT I’M DREADING…
I am not dreading much right now. The only thing I am not looking forward to is 8 more weeks of school. We used a bunch of snow days this year so our school year got extended by a few days. 8 weeks after a late Easter just feels like too many. I am ready for sunshine, pool days, and sleeping in.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
April is School Library Month so I have been celebrating school libraries all month. We welcomed author Jen Calonita to my school earlier this month. Author visits are always so much fun! The kids learn a lot and are often inspired to read and write new things!
I’ve been rocking my book related t-shirts to celebrate fun books and characters! Check out my instagram (@sunnyscp) for daily updates on the shirts.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
More sunshine! I am really looking forward to longer, warmer days. Luke picked to do his reading outside this week. I am also pretty excited to watch my kiddos play some baseball. I love watching baseball, so the spring is pretty fun! I am heading to the beach for a quick overnight with Jeff this weekend and I am pretty excited about that too!

WHAT I’M WATCHING / READING…
Earlier this month I was down for the count with strep throat and came across Mexican Dynasties on Bravo. Have you seen it? They are quite over the top, but I found the characters to be a bit entertaining.

I have been reading up a storm. You can check out my Books 2019 page. Recently I read Small Admissions. Lots of people raved about it, but it wasn’t my favorite. I loved how it ended, but I felt like it took way to long to get there. I give it ☀️ ☀️ ☀️. Be on the lookout for my Summer Beach Books post in the next week or so. I’ll share some of my favorite authors’ new books and recommend a few for a great summer read!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
Nothing special really. We’ve been listening to the Orioles as we drive home from practices each evening. Even though they aren’t experiencing the success we’d like, we are still hometown fans!! Let’s go O’s!!

WHAT I’M WEARING…
All the book related shirts I possibly can for School Library Month!
We tried a new kids line for Easter this year. Look by J.Crew kids on Amazon made the cutest shirts for Easter! My boys looked springy and were comfy all at the same time!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
Jeff is going to be away all weekend at a convention and I am going to join him for one night. My mom agreed to watch the kids so we are going to enjoy a night out of town!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
Luke is celebrating his First Communion in May. We are going to celebrate all the mamas on Mother’s Day. I am looking forward to Preakness with Jeff and his family. The pool opens!!!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
We had a great Easter with my family and Jeff’s family. Jeff commented that he loves a late Easter because everything is blooming and it looks so springy. I have to agree! The cherry trees are in full bloom right now and it is beautiful!!

That’s about it for this month’s What’s Up Wednesday. I hope you have a great week full of sunshine and books!!

I really enjoyed Small Admissions! Love those Easter pictures. The trees in the background are perfect. We have had 5 days of rainy/cloudy weather and were so happy to see the sun today!
