Happy Wednesday! It’s the first Wednesday of the month and I am linking up with Amy to share five things I am currently doing. Each month we share five different things and I think it’s a fun way to think about what’s going on.

I am falling for…
I am NOT falling for all the Halloween decorations. We took out a few shrubs and a tree in front of our house and I think orange lights would look great on our railings. But I do not need orange lights and I got tired of buying new lights each year when we used to have them. I saw these fantastic disco ghosts at Micheals the other day and I really do not need them, but I love them! I repeat I do not need more Halloween decorations.

The book collection from Life is Good! The “everyone relax i’m a librarian” sweatshirt is going to be pretty hard to resist!

This is scaring me…
Our dryer! Our dryer has been occasionally on the fritz for a few months and it seems that this is the last legs of the the fritz. In August, it wouldn’t turn on but did when the repair technician came. In September, it wasn’t heating up so they replaced the ignitor and the gas coils. Now it won’t turn on again and the repair technician is coming back. I have a feeling it’s time for a new one. I don’t love messing with gas so the malfunction is scaring me a bit.
I am working on…
Everything! While the school year is going really well, I feel like I am constantly working on everything. I am struggling to get ahead right now at school and at home. Nothing is wrong, but it feels like a never ending game of whack-a-mole. I am bopping each thing as it pops up and it is not a great feeling. Lesson plans – whack, dinner plans – whack, dishes – whack, summer reading program – whack, author visit – whack, college visits – whack, college application support for Jack – whack, tech problems at school – whack, update all the computers – whack, blow off the ridiculous amount of acorns on the driveway every day – whack, and whack, and whack, and whack. Do you see what I mean?
I am loving…
Keds! I wore Keds as a kid and was looking for a few new pairs of school sneakers. As a 46 year old lady, I am looking for supportive shoes with high arches that are still cute. These showed up on my Facebook feed and I’ve been watching them for a while. I know the pink is rather bright, but I love them! The dusty rose and tan color are a bit more neutral and will be great for all of my school days!

We had an author at school last week. Jennifer Holm was absolutely incredible!! The story of creating Babymouse is fantastic! She was great with the kids and the adults thought she was great, too! I love meeting authors and bringing them to share their craft with my students!!

This is entertaining me…
Concerts! When I bought tickets to Michael Franti and the Wheeland Brothers for a September show and The Chicks for an October show, I did not realize the shows were only eight days apart! I am tired, but it was absolutely worth it!! I have been trying to see Michael Franti for years and it finally worked out. The fact that the Wheeland Brothers opened for them was incredible! The venue only has about 300 seats and I love it! Micheal Franti walked through the crowd playing guitar and singing and he walked right by me. He even stopped for a high five and a little shimmy together. At least, I think he stopped for a shimmy. I will definitely buy tickets next time he comes around. I loved it!!!

The Wheeland brothers played a different show than I’ve ever seen them play. They were recreating a night at the Hideaway, their beach camp spot, and it was great!

On Saturday and Sunday, I was entertained by the Shakira concert on Amazon. I danced and sang and watched it twice!!

I went with some friends to see The Chicks last night. I’ve never seen them in concert and was really looking forward to it. (Full disclosure: I am typing this on Monday night because we aren’t going to get home until at least midnight on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning after the show.) Hopefully, I can add some pictures in the morning.

One thing I love to do after a concert is make a playlist using the setlist. Here are the two I made from this week:
Michael Franti
Shakira
The Calamity Club is entertaining me and entertained me for over a week! The book is long – 656 pages – but it’s worth it. I’ve heard great things about the audio book, too!! I didn’t read too much last week because as soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep. After the concert Monday night, webinars for the boys’ high school on Tuesday and Wednesday, a happy hour turned dinner on Thursday night, and the football game on Friday, I was beat!

That was fun! Amy does a great job of picking things to get us sharing. I’m not sure that I’ll get a Friday Favorites post up this week, but I’ll try. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I am not a Halloween person at all but those disco ghosts are pretty darn cute! I remember wearing Keds in high school. I haven’t thought of them in years. Your new shoes are cute.
Oh my gosh I think I may need those Disco Ghosts in my life- ahhh- sooo cute!
I have seen those Keds advertised! So cute! Love them! I love the disco ghosts so much! I know what you mean, though. I can’t really justify spending too much on decor.
I know what you mean about whack a mole – it’s the life of someone in a school!
Ahhh I used to wear Keds too. What a blast from the past…love all the new color ways. You were out and about…but sounds like you listened to some great music! I saw those sparkly ghosts at Michael’s too…& they had candy corn too!
Those disco ghosts are fabulous! I would so buy them! hehehe Ugh to the broken dryer! I love those bright pink sneakers! The concerts sound great and I do like a bit of Shakira!
I totally hear you on the “whack, whack, whack” issue. I’m hoping that this is the week when our lives will slow down a bit, but really, who am I kidding?!?!? And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t going to check out those disco ghosts! CUTE!!!!
