Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

We were hanging out on the deck talking until almost 10 o’clock last night so I am joining you a little later this Monday morning. After a week with three swim meets, our swim team banquet, a social event at the pool, and welcoming our August members, I was ready for bed at 10. I’m going to share a quick weekend recap with you today and am hoping to share a few more Alaska days this week.
Let’s start with Friday. We had our last swim practice of the year. It is always a fun practice because all of the coaches are there and we play games for the second half of each practice. This year we added ice cream sundaes as a yummy treat. After practice, we put everything away that swim team uses for practices and meets – benches, blocks, flags, etc. The pool looked a little empty after we did that. It was like when you put your Christmas tree and decorations away and the house feels empty. Jeff joined us at the pool for a bit. We hung out with friends and read for a bit.
Luke and I headed back to the pool after his year round swim practice to help set up for the swim team banquet. The pavillion looked great when we left and headed home to get ready for Saturday’s meet.
Jeff and Jack went to the Orioles’ game with friends because they were playing the Braves. They had great seats and the game went to extra innings. They left happy because the Braves won!

Saturday was our division championship meet. It is always the last Saturday in July. Our team had a great meet! The kids swam fast and had fun! There was a coaches relay at the end of the meet and I hopped in there with our coaches. Did I swim fast? Nope. Did I embarass myself? Also nope! It was a fun way to end the meet. We had a few hours in between the meet and the banquet. I ran a few errands and made a potato dish for the banquet. I made a few swaps to this recipe – gluten free soup and green onion instead of yellow – and it was delicious!

We celebrated all of our swimmers and a great season before the kids swam and danced until we kicked them all out a few hours later. One of the pool’s neighbors set off fireworks and that was a fun surprise!

Sunday morning was another up and moving morning. We had a Christmas in July event at the pool and a meeting for our August only members. Christmas in July was perfect for a Sunday after a busy Saturday. Freedom Santa came and handed out popsicles. The Grinch made an appearance, too. Jack and a friend headed back to the ballpark for the last game in the Braves/O’s series. They saw another Braves win. Luke worked Sunday evening. We ended the evening on the deck just talking and enjoying each other’s company.

It’s hard to believe that summer swim is over for 2026. I just love summer swim. It is a unique sport because swimmers ages 4 – 18 are on the same team, competing in the same meet, cheering for each other and there is a ton of family involvement. It is so fun!
I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for another fun week of summer! I am looking forward to a slightly more relaxed schedule over the next few weeks. If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
