Hello Monday – 3/16/25

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I am excited to be back on the blog today. I did not intend to take the whole week off, but I did not find the time to write anything. Between a weekend away, the time change, playing catchup from the weekend, pool membership work, and getting ready for this week, I was zapped. So today’s post will be Hello Monday favorites from the week.

Last week I shared that Luke had a great swim meet. This week I am sharing that Luke had a great swim meet! Ha! Rinse and repeat. We counted on Sunday afternoon and this is Luke’s 19th and my 18th swim meet session of 2026. That is a lot of swimming! This meet was only one session per day (Fri-Sun) and Jeff went on Saturday. His number one goal for the weekend was to drop time, of course, and to win 50 free. Mission accomplished! He dropped time in everything but one event, looked great swimming, and won 50 free. It was a fun weekend of swimming! This is also his last meet in the 13-14 age group for short course. I’d say he ended the age group on a big high with 2 weekends of fast swimming and lots of fun!

Goal ✔️
Though swimming is an individual sport, there is alot of cheering among the teammates!
Ready for swim meet session 18 of the year😍
And with that, the 2025-2026 short course swim season is over for Luke.🏅

Jack had a golf match this week, too. Sounds like last week again! He won his match, the team won the match, and Jack played really well! I didn’t make it to the match so no pictures this week. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on missing many more. He’s have a blast with the golf team and we are having fun watching him.

Jack and his friend went to the Washington Capitals game this weekend. While I was fine with them going by themselves, I was a little unsure about them driving or riding the metro into DC by themselves for the first time. I decided to go with them, but let Jack drive and then walk around the mall and museums while they went to the game. The game was exciting and went to a shootout. Jack wasn’t happy with the final score but his friend was!

It is still a weird feeling to ride in the backseat when my kid is driving. He did a great job in DC!

I went to the Museum of the American Indian. It is a Smithsonian museum that I have never been to. It was very informative and the artifacts were beautiful. However, as you might imagine, it was pretty depressing. We, the United States, did not treat American Indians very well or uphold our end of many treaties. I learned quite a bit and would definitely recommend it for anyone interested in American history.

On Saturday evening, I made an epic mistake. I decided that all four of us should pack for our trips this week at the same time. What was I thinking?? Jeff tapped out quickly and decided to pack later. I gave up and parked myself outside of Jack’s and Luke’s room to guide them through any questions they might have. My guys are good packers and good at following the lists, but there are always one-off questions that arise. I ended up packing after the boys and it felt great to just put my toiletries together Sunday morning.

We are expecting some wild weather today and I am a little nervous. Hopefully our town, and really everyone, is spared from the tornados and big storms, but we are watching and waiting. If you are in the path of this weather today, I hope you make it through safely. I am looking forward to a few days in the sun (go away clouds!), reading and relaxing before heading back to our freezing cold weather. If you blogged today, please join us below! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I don’t think I’ve visited that museum before. It looks beautiful! Sounds like another great weekend of swim. We have bad storms predicted this morning, so we are on a 2 hour delay. Hope everyone stays safe!

Congrats to Jack and Luke for golf and swim! I think it’s so cool you live so close to DC. What a great compromise to let him drive and you got to sight see. Love reading the recap even if they topic was serious,

Good DC compromise with you in the backseat. Tom loved the cafeteria at the American Indian Museum.
We had tornado sirens going off last night from midnight to 12:30. There are going to be lots of tired adults and kids today. Stay safe!

We’ll be driving home in storms today and I’m not excited about it. Hopefully your travel goes smoothly and you enjoy your week away. I’ve never been to the American Indian museum but sounds interesting. My hubs would love it. Is it a newer museum? We moved from the area in 2003 and I don’t remember hearing about it. Have a great week!

It sounds like life has been very busy.
That is a lot of swimming for the boys. Good job to them. How fun for you to go to Washington with the boys. The museum looks fantastic and so interesting.

It sounds like you found a great solution to Jack going into DC with his friend. Hope you have a good week. This weather is crazy!

That is a lot of swim meets with it only being March! I swam for almost two full decades and loved it so much that I coached for almost another decade! I miss it, but I don’t miss every weekend being busy. I hope you all stay safe and sound in the storm and thanks for sharing that museum. If I ever make it out to DC again, it is on my list.
