Hello Monday – 1/26/26

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

We had a great weekend! Friday was pretty chill, Saturday was productive, and Sunday was a snow day. It was just what we needed!

Jeff had to work late on Friday and Jack went to a friend’s house after practice. I got my Valentine’s Day bin out of the shed and decorated a little. Thanks for the inspiration Amy! I also got the shovels and sleds out of the shed so we were ready for the weekend’s snowstorm.

I picked Luke up after his practice and we just chilled at home. It was great!! I enjoyed this flavored water while I did a few word searches. It tastes just like a drink they offer you when you walk into a tropical all-inclusive resort.

On Saturday, we all slept in a bit and eased into the day. I walked on the treadmill because it was really cold. Then Luke and I got ready to go to his swim meet. We left pretty early because we were going to pick up our glass projects from last weekend. They turned out wonderfully!! Luke made a jellyfish paperweight, Jack made a tall glass, Jeff made a short glass, and I technichally made a spoon rest but I am going to use it as a little jewelry dish.

Then we went to a local Baltimore grocery store that has the best sandwiches in their deli for the meet. When the boys have swim meets at one of our local universities, we ALWAYS get sandwiches from Eddie’s. Luke swam three events and did ok but he had fun with his buddies! He has been dropping time left and right, so it made sense that he didn’t get all best times again on Saturday. I was an on-deck marshall with a radio and had a great seat for cheering on the swimmers. I also got to read a good bit between swims.

Jack and Jeff went to the golf simulator with one of Jack’s buddies and my dad met them there. We all met up at home and made sure all the devices were charging and the portable chargers were fully charged before heading to bed.

We were up around 8 on Sunday morning. That’s a little late for us but our room was so dark. Snow had already started falling and our skylight was completely covered. My one goal for the day was to watch the entire CBS Sunday Morning show in my pajamas on the couch. Mission accomplished! I finished one book and started another. I did a little knitting, too. I got really cozy under my electric blanket for most of the day.

We had two family shoveling sessions – so much fun! The boys helped some neighbors shovel, too. The snow was super powdery and then turned into the consistency of the ice powder at the bottom of a bag of ice. It was heavier than I was hoping, but we got it done. Luke made a fort in the big snow piles and stayed out to play for a while.

I hopped on the treadmill to finish one episode and watch another one of Emily in Paris. I even did a little running for the first time in a while. It felt great!

I decided to make a drink after I was finished exercising and shoveling. This is one of my favorite summer drinks, but they are strong so it is good to have on a stay home night. I added a summer cup, too, even though our coasters are encouraging the winter.

We had a meatball subs for dinner and they were warm and delicious on a snowy night. Chili is on tap for tonight! We finished watching football together after dinner and I typed this post.

I was supposed to have a teacher work day today and we have a snow day instead. The boys were supposed to have school and they have a snow day, too. I was happy to shine the snow day signal pretty early on Sunday.

How pretty are our lights on the fence in our backyard? I love them in the snow!

I am hopeful that we don’t lose power with all the ice and wintry mix that is forecasted. I have no idea when we will go back because it’s pretty icy and the temperatures are supposed to sink into the single digits so the salt won’t work so well. I’m ready to start my day today in pjs watching the Today show. My day plan includes reading, exercise, knitting, and working on my reading blog post for tomorrow. If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great snowy day full of sunshine and books!

Our schools and things canceled on Friday (Even Alec’s college canceled classes for today!). But my understanding is the snow won’t stop until 8pm tonight… we lost power for a little over an hour yesterday but so far that’s it.

Your weekend sounds terrific for you! That snow day signal is the BEST – how fun!! I guess I need to add “exercise” to all these days stuck inside – thanks for the reminder – ha! We are getting the dogs out plenty, though. Stay warm and enjoy the slower pace of snow days – sounds like you’re well-prepared with food and activities.
Love how those glass projects turned out!!

For some reason, I can’t leave my own comment but I was able to hit “Reply” on Jenni’s comment. So this is not really related to Jenni’s comment though I do agree with everything she said :). Your weekend sounds nice because you were able to get many of your activities in before the bad weather came. And now you get to enjoy a snow day! The glass items turned out so well! I forgot to add in my post that I ran on the treadmill on Saturday but for some reason did not on Sunday. I was home all day- no excuses!! Have a great Monday!

Hmmm… I’ll look into that. I was happy to get everything done on Saturday before we hunkered down. Sometimes the day gets away from me and I realize I didn’t exercise when it’s time for bed. It happens. Have a good snow day!

I love the snow day signal, too! It is fun to shine in the morning when they announce the snow day at 5 am. Exercise does make me feel best on the days we are studck inside. I am hoping to take a walk outside, but I bet those dogs are keep ing you busy out there. Have a great day!

What a wonderful winter weekend. So nice that you all still had some activities like swim meet to get out of the house. I ran some errands on Saturday morning before the weather started around 2. We have our first online day. Love your family snow pics. Trav is the only one who ventured outside haha

You really got a lot of snow! It sounds like you will be home for awhile with the low temperatures. Beautiful glass work! Stay warm!

I love the snow day signal! How fun is that!! Your glass projects turned out great. We had all ice here, no snow and the daytime temps are above freezing so we had a lot of melting today. We were without power for about 24 hours, but all is good for now. Enjoy your snow days!
