Happy Wednesday! It’s the first Wednesday of the month (and YEAR) and I am linking up with Amy to share five things I am currently doing. You read that right, Amy is taking over for Jenn this year. I’m so happy the linkup is continuing and can’t wait to see what Amy has for us each month! I am sharing five different things I am currently doing and I think it’s a fun way to think about what’s going on.

I am loving…

keeping candles in my windows. With all the Christmas decorations packed up, they help keep the winter darkness cozy.

starting back to school on a Monday. I know it makes for a long 5 day week, but my Monday and Tuesday schedules are pretty light so it was a good ease back. It is also helpful to remember what day it is and getting back into the routine.

I am resolving…

not to resolve anything. I am setting goals and focusing on shorter intervals this year. I spent the last 100 days of 2025 with 10 10 day goals and I really liked it. They were pretty easy to attain and made a pretty big difference in my day to day life. I don’t think I am going to do 10 day intervals but I am not focusing on an entire year.

In January, I want to read one nonfiction book, one physical book on my bookshelf, and one book on my kindle from NetGalley that I haven’t read yet. I also want to get outside every single day for part of my exercise. I walked when it was freezing cold over break and I want to keep it up.

My physical TBR shelves. I know there are a ton of great books on here!

I am planning…

to plan. The first nonfiction book I want to read in January is Best Laid Plans by Sarah Hart-Unger. I love her podcasts and bought her book in December. I haven’t made time to read it and work through her process but this is the month for it.

I am eating and drinking…

less than I did in December. Ha! I am planning to get back to a good amount of water and more fruits and vegetables in my daily diet. I am toying with tracking my macros for a month or two just to get a gauge on what I’m eating and how it makes me feel.

I am reading and watching…

Christmas books. I know, I know. It’s January already, but I always read a few more Christmas books after Christmas because they were on my list and I am not ready to pick up a heavier winter book. My January/February book list includes Best Laid Plans, The Correspondent, and In Your Dreams.

Currently Reading

Books from NetGalley! I entered 78 NetGalley reviews on Sunday night and realized I have over 200 that I haven’t read or reviewed. I am going to read something from NetGalley as often as possible to get my review rate up a bit. I’ve submitted 220 reviews, most of them in the past two years. I didn’t realize how not submitting feedback negatively affects you for the first few years I was on NetGalley so I’ve been doing a lot of catching up.

I am not really watching much on tv. I would like to watch the new season of Emily in Paris, but I haven’t started it. We watched a lot of football over winter break with the NFL and the bowl games.

I love watching the deer and fox in our backyard and cornfield. No birdwatching over here yet, but I feel like that might be coming…

That was fun! Thanks for hosting Amy! It will be fun to see everyone else’s answers. I am not sure that I can keep up this daily blogging after this week, but I have really enjoyed writing and posting. I will definitely be back for Friday Favorites. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Wow that is a lot of books on both your physical bookshelf and your NetGalley list! Good luck getting through a bunch of them. I’m trying really hard not to request library books for the next few months and just concentrate on reading the books I have around the house/on my kindle.

Oh my gosh – I love your graphic! I just realized I didn’t have one! I am not good at making them and need to learn.
I love to have a good non-fiction going at the same time as my fiction read. I can always get something out of a book like that.
I am going to try to come up with some good present participles and some of them might be a little wacky.

Your home sure does look cosy with the candles burning.
I like the idea of the 10 10 day goals. I am going with monthly goals and so far they’re going well.
Oh wow! How cool to have the deer in your back yard.

The candles in the windows make the winter nights feel cozy. I think everyone in the link up said they were going to eat less…ha, ha. I feel your pain with the Netgalley reviews etc. I have started selecting “not going to read this book” if it wasn’t the right book for me. (a DNF) I’m not sure if this affects the review ratio, but I want to stay current with my list and this helps me get some off that I tried and didn’t like.
