Happy Friday! We are starting today’s post off with some alliteration! MM and FF – I love it! This has been a fun week and I didn’t my Monthly Musings post up yesterday so I’m sharing it today, followed by some favorites!

Linking up with Holly and Patty

1-What holidays do you celebrate? We celebrate Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.

2-Scale of 1-10, how into the holidays are you this year? Be honest. I am a 7 or 8. Two days ago I was a level 9 Grinch for a few hours, but I’ve that out of my system. When we get out of school on Tuesday, I am hoping to get to a 9! Things are a little different this year with two high schoolers, but I am trying to embrace the season.

3-Favorite thing to make/bake during the holidays? I love to make my buttercream candy.

4-Favorite holiday movies? I love Christmas Vacation, White Christmas, Four Christmases, Elf, and the claymation classics. I also enjoy Hallmark movies for great background holiday cheer!

5-Most random holiday tradition? I think most of our traditions are pretty traditional.

6-Are you hosting for the holidays? New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day? I do host Christmas Eve for my parents if they are in town. We stay home on Christmas Day and host any and everyone who wants to come. I am not sure what we are doing for NYE or day.

7-Favorite way to ring in the New Year? I like to be with friends until 12:02 am and then I want to be home in my pjs. When we have to go back to work on January 2nd, I feel better if I go to bed early but I do have a case of FOMO.

8-Any new year’s resolutions or word of the year? I’ve done both but I am not sure I am going to do either this year.

9-Favorite holiday songs? I love Christmas to Remember by Kenny and Dolly because what says Merry Christmas like a one night stand? 😂 I love Harry Connick, Jr.’s, New Kids on the Block’s, and Mariah Carey’s Christmas albums. I love traditional songs and newer pop Christmas songs.

10-Favorite holiday memory? I have a lot of great holiday memories, but one of my favorites was the year we heard Santa. As we were finishing reading The Night Before Christmas, we heard Santa and dashed off to bed. My parents’ live in a duplex and 45 year old Sarah still isn’t sure if it was the neighbor or Santa, but I am going with Santa.

Favorite 1: SANTA!! I love when Santa comes around on the fire truck! This year he only had one truck with him because it was freezing and icy. It is one of my favorite nights in the neighborhood.

Luke was collecting for his food drive and pulled his red sleigh as he followed Santa.

Favorite 2: BOOKS! I am reading all the Christmas books right now! I love them so much. In fact I think they are one thing that helps get me into the holiday spirit. I’m reading winter holiday books at school, too.

We had an incredible Book Fair this year! We had 10 wonderful days with it fully set up. It arrived a little early and didn’t get picked up until Wednesday afternoon, which means it was in my library for FOUR WEEKS! That’s almost as long as we keep our Christmas tree up! I was happy to see it get packed up for another school to enjoy.

We were joyful joyful on day 10!
Until next year Book Fair!

I have been listening to Sarah Hart-Unger’s Best Laid Plans podcast for years. I am super curious about her courses (Best Laid Plans Academy, Planning by Season, Best Laid Plans Live) but I am not sure I’m ready to commit to them. I pre-ordered Sarah’s book Best Laid Plans and was so excited to get it on Tuesday. I’m going to dig into it over break.

Favorite 3: INFLATABLES!! It has been so cold and windy so I didn’t put our big Frosty up until this week. Our neighbor loves Frosty and was so excited he returned. She even made her mom take a picture with him. I love this!!

I ordered this in September and finally put it up at school. I didn’t have a good idea of how big a four foot Little Debbie tree would be when I put it on a table, but I love it!

Favorite 4: GIRLFRIENDS!! I got together with some girlfriends last weekend and it was so nice to be together again. Girlfriend time is always good for the soul!

Favorite 5: PICTURES!! One of Jack’s friends is a great photographer, so I asked her to meet us at the town tree for a quick family photo. She did a great job and I love our cards this year. I snapped a quick selfie with Jeff before we did the family photo.

Favorite 6: HOLIDAY CLOTHES!! I love my new Christmas sweater. I’m sure you’ve seen it all over the internet from Walmart. It is as comfy as everyone says it is. I also love this Merry sweatshirt I found at a Hallmark store last year or the year before.

Favorite 7: DELIVERY DRIVERS!! These are the heroes of my holiday right now. They are bringing presents and donations to our door every day. Check out that balancing act!

Hello Monday

I realized I never updated you on our school day Monday. We kept with the two hour delay and it was great. I had a lot of time to regroup after getting Book Fair packed up and the roads were clear enough for Jack to drive. Jack and Luke had exams this week and their schedules have been different every day. They will both be finished by 10:30 this morning and enjoying their break.

We are getting together with some friends on Friday night. The boys have a swim meet on Saturday and then we are going to dash home to watch the JMU football game. Go DUUKES!! I am going to meet a friend to walk on Sunday morning and then lock myself in my room to wrap, wrap, and wrap. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and CHRISTMAS books!
