Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!
Before I get to what’s great, I want to share a little of what’s on my mind. I have been working through some thoughts lately and I am having a bit of a hard time. I am so sad about all of the hate, unkindness, and deaths in our country. I am torn between turning off news emails and notifications because it is all too much and not wanting to bury my head in the sand because oh my goodness how can I not pay attention to what is happening. It’s quite the dilema and I do not have answers…
I took a little social media break on Sunday afternoon after I got three posts/reels in a row about what high school juniors need to be doing now to get into college and I started to stress even more. I popped on my heavier weighted vest and hit the pavement. I can always tell when there is something on my mind because I walk faster. Sunday was no different with my 15 minute pace…
Now, our weekend wasn’t all stressful. I do have EIGHT GREAT things to share with you!
1-Luke had his first soccer game on Friday afternoon. He played really well and it was so fun to watch Luke and his team play. It was a little stressfull when another player swiped his legs near the edge of the field and he bounced off the track. Yikes! Luke was fine and went back into the game to finish it out. It was so great to see him really open up and run up and down the field after his hip and knee injuries in the past few seasons. He had a big fan club (both sets of grandparents and me) but I forgot to take a picture of us.
2-Luke rode the bus back to school for the football game. Jack was already there and of course Jeff was too. The boys had a great time in the student section and I had fun in the stands with the parents and staff. I am working on meeting more people at the school. They were playing Jeff and Jack’s old school so that was fun to see some of Jack’s classmates and Jeff’s students. Unfortunatly, we did not win but it was still a fun game.
3-We were up and moving on Saturday morning because we had tickets to the Spy musuem. Luke loves an experience and we gave him tickets to the museum for his birthday in April. Saturday was a gorgeous day to learn about spies, go on our spy missions, and eat lunch down by the wharf in DC.
We each got to get a disguise as a spy. I thought Jeff’s and Luke’s were pretty funny, but I really like mine!
4-This no kid sports on Saturday thing is still weird to me but I am adjusting. I spent some time on the deck reading in the sunshine. I am really enjoying Confessions of a Grammar Queen by Eliza Knight!
I reread The Blue Book by Elin Hilderbrand this weekend. I read it when it was included in The Hotel Nantucket, but I think there are a few additions in the stand alone so I read it again. I do need to get to Nantucket sometime!
5-Jack had a friend spend the night which is always fun. Luke was hoping to play Clue Master Detective after our day at the Spy Museum and the guys all played. I never play Clue with them because I don’t have the patience for it. They had a good time, though!
6-We had a slow morning on Sunday. Luke made pancakes, I watched Sunday Morning, Jeff went on his Sunday podcast walk, and Jack slept in. It was a lovely way to start the day!
7-I went on that walk from up above. Even though I was working through somethings, I came home with a clearer mind and a bit more relaxed. I talked to my sister for part of the walk and that was nice, too. I got home from my walk and Luke and I played Pickles to Penguins and Taco vs. Burrito while I stretched a bit.
8-Sunday evening was great! Both kids had their homework done by dinner time. We had dinner together and Jeff made the wings. The boys played outside with our neighbors until after dark. I watched the Emmys, the guys watched football, and we were all relaxed!
Unfortunately (I guess), the absolutely beautiful weather we had this weekend means I did not do much to work in our basement. I am not too worried about it but it does need to get done. In Currently earlier this month, I said that it was a goal for this month and the weather is not cooperating. Let’s modify that to make the deadline before Halloween. 😉
I am looking forward to this week, but it is going to be a full one. Luke has two soccer games, Jack has two golf practices and a few swim practices, there is a back to school night, and a football game. Whoa! My meal plan is made, groceries are ordered, Monday and Tuesday lunches are packed, and I have all the lists ready to keep me on track. We’ve got this friends! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
