Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I didn’t get around to writing a Friday Favorites post so I am sharing EIGHT GREAT favorites today. Let’s get to it!

1-CLOUDS! How is that for weird? I am always suprised when I am happy with cloudy weather. We had terrible weather Monday-Thursday, cold, cloudy, and rainy! It was perfect for getting my summer hours done. In my county media specialists have to work four extra days, split before and after the school year. I got a lot done this week and didn’t miss any pool time to do it!
2-SUNSHINE! Holy moly! Friday was an absolute 10 day! The sun was shining all day, the humidity was gone, and the breeze was lovely. I finished one book and started two more! I chatted with friends, dead headed all the flowers, and relaxed. It was so good that Luke and I decided to pull an all-dayer! Jack made it an all-dayer, too, and he got paid for it. 😊

3-BOOKS! I have been reading up a storm! Be sure to come back tomorrow to see the books I read this month. I found a new author I love, read a few great kids’ books, and enjoyed a few 2025 Summer Beach Reads. I also unpacked hundreds of new books for the school library last week. There is nothing better than HUNDREDS of new books!

4-DINNER! I have not been doing a very good job making dinner, but we have been enjoying our dinners. We’ve had burgers, Mexican, leftovers, Greek, and best wishes from the fridge/pantry. We went out to dinner with my parents one last time before school starts and had a great time. The conversation, chips and salsa, and margarita did not disappoint! I am trying to get back into the making dinner groove this week. On the menu plan I have taco bowls, breakfast, sausage and pasta, and leftovers. I have no idea what Friday dinner will be but I have a few days to figure that out. It might be pizza at the pool if the weather is right.
5-GOLF! Jack has been to the golf course a few times to practice this week. I hung out in the pro shop one day and found the cutest skort on sale. Woohoo! I sat outside Saturday night because it was beautiful!

Jack has Bucket Golf and he’s been playing it a lot lately with Luke and our neighbor. On Saturday night, it was just Jeff, Jack, and me at home so we played for a little bit. It really is a fun game! I even got two pars!

6-DEER! The corn behind our house is getting so tall and it is hiding all of the animals that we usually see. One morning we came downstairs to this sweet little deer on the edge of the cornfield. It stayed put for a little while before disappearing into the corn.

7-LEARNING! I had a goal for Jack and Jeff to teach Luke how to cut the grass this summer. It took almost the whole summer break, but they got it done! Jeff taught him the basics and did a few passes with him. Then Jack took over and they finished the rest of the lawn. It was great! I love when I (or Jack, Luke, and Jeff) meet a goal!

8-SOCCER! Luke made the high school soccer team and is having a great time! His good friend invited him to the DC United soccer game on Saturday night. They played Inter Miami and tied. He had a great time and there was a tshirt giveaway! They had fabulous seats, too!

Today is a big day in our house! I’m not sure if I mentioned it here or not, but Jeff changed schools and jobs this year. So, that means that Jack is changing schools this year and Luke is starting there, too. Jack and Luke have their first day of school, but not the first day of classes. I start teacher week today, too. We are jumping back into a routine with both feet this week. Wish us luck! If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Congrats to Luke! I get it about the clouds! Sometimes you need those days!
Mowing! A rite of passage. Haha
Congrats to Luke on making the soccer team. I hope all have a great year!
What a great weekend! I’m curious about the new author you love. I’m trying so hard to get back into reading! My attention span is not what it used to be since my divorce. I’m hoping this will pass! I remember when my sons learned to mow the grass; what a great feeling that is for the parents and for the ones doing the work. I hope you have a great week back to work, friend!
In the early days mowing is a lot of fun. My hubs still enjoys it I think but now I’m happy to pay for the service. Glad you got some pool time before fall truly rolls in. We’ve had a cloudy rainy August here too. I’m still in summer mode but once Labor Day rolls in will go with Autumn. As long as it’s not 90 degrees here, which can happen. Have a nice week!
Always love seeing the corn in your back yard- so very cool- your Friday night pizza at the pool sounds perfect so hope you can make that happen! Congrats to Luke- so exciting!
We only ever had 1 of the 3 boys really take to mowing the lawn. Luckily we have a ride on mower and it’s a chore my husband really enjoys doing so he wasn’t too upset when the younger two showed little to no interest (though we did make sure they COULD mow if they had to). I don’t know what we’re having for dinner most nights this week either. I’ve been doing pretty well with meal planning this summer but I think I just need a break. I figure there is food in the house and I’ll figure it out as we go.
Way to go with the mowing! Best wishes with the new school year!
Sunshine and no humidity is a good thing! I hope the boys have a good back to school experience at their new school.
That was a good idea to work those cloudy days so you didn’t miss out on the pool and Friday does sound perfect!
hahaha! The best wishes from the fridge/pantry did make me chuckle.
I hope the first day of school went well for the boys.
