Reading Lately – 6/24/25

Happy Tuesday! It’s almost the end of the month, so I am sharing the books I read this month and what I am currently reading. I am linking up with the Share Your Shelf ladies – Joanne, Marilyn, Tanya, and Jenn – so be sure to check them out on Thursday for other great bookish posts.

One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
**2025 Sunshine and Books Summer Beach Read**

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! I was excited to read it when I heard that Carley Fortune was taking us back to Barry’s Bay. I love when books aren’t exactly part of a series but mention characters from the author’s other books. Alice decides to take her grandmother back to Barry’s Bay to recover from her hip surgery. She’s looking for a break and it seems like the perfect place to escape the city. The last time Alice was there she was 17. That summer a boy, his brother, and a girl on a yellow boat caught her attention and their picture helped launch her photography career. Much to Alice’s surprise, the boy from the boat keeps popping up. As the summer goes on, their relationship ebbs and flows and it makes for a great summer read. I am already anticipating Carley Fortune’s next book.

Panda-monium by Stuart Gibbs (kids audio)

Where the Rivers Merge by Mary Alice Monroe ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
**2025 Sunshine and Books Summer Beach Read**

I knew I was going to love this when I heard Mary Alice Monroe talk about it last month. It is a family story (love), with dual timelines (love), a strong willed female (love), and takes place in the low country of South Carolina (love). I loved learning about Charleston and how society worked. I loved Eliza and how she told her story acknowledging that she made mistakes and did the best she could at times. I was so bummed when I got to the end because it just stops in the middle of the story. I knew that was going to happen, but I still wasn’t ready for it. Mary Alice said that this is a story told in two books and the next one will be out next year. So I’ll be waiting to learn the rest of Eliza’s story. It’s going to be a good one!

I know that our June was busy, but I didn’t realize that I wasn’t reading very much until I sat down to write this post. I am hoping to read more of my Summer Beach Reads in July. I have a few queued up on my kindle and library holds ready to go. What have you enjoyed reading this month? Hopefully I am spending today reading at the pool! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

  1. Joanne says:

Now I kind of want to read Where the Rivers Merge so I can read both books back to back… which is probably good since I don’t think I can possibly get through my whole “want to read” pile this summer!

Oh! Now I want to read Where the Rivers Merge.
I read One Golden Summer too. I liked it. I’m sharing my books tomorrow…I didn’t read as much as I’d hoped to in June either.
