Happy Tuesday! We had a great weekend. It was a good mix of things to do and unscheduled time, but somehow I didn’t carve out any time to get to my eight great things about the weekend. I also didn’t do a great job taking pictures – oops! My goal for this week and weekend is to be better about taking some pictures of our every day and the extra fun.

1-We used to go look at Christmas lights every Friday night in December when the boys were little. Now that they are older, we only go once or twice. Friday night was our first drive around. I picked them up from swim team practice at 8 pm, swung through the Chick-fil-A drive in for peppermint milkshakes and we took to the streets. We went to a few favorite houses and discovered some new ones. It was interesting to see what houses have changed ownership and changed decor since last Christmas.
2-I finished Mary Kay Andrews’ new Christmas novella. It was so fun to read! Holiday Hideaway is a very quick read and full of her usual wit. You can find it and more on my Christmas Books 2024 list. I loved it!

3-We have the best neighbors! Our across the street neighbor always puts our top lights up on the house. They are probably moving before next Christmas, so I asked him to teach Luke how to do the lights this year. They went up Sunday afternoon and did a great job.

4-That same fantastic neighbor put the lights up across the street on Sunday afternoon. I love how festive it looks now!
5-Luke had two indoor soccer games this weekend. He plays on a team with friends from school and his regular club team. He had assists and goals in both games!
6-Even though it has been so cold, Jack is itching to play some golf. He went to the simulator this weekend. My dad, Jeff, and Luke joined him for a bit after soccer on Saturday.
7-Target was on point this weekend! I spent about an hour and a half there Saturday afternoon tying up some loose Christmas ends. I picked up some stocking stuffers and other fun things. I don’t get to Target very often so it took me a while to go aisle by aisle to see what was going to match what I was looking for.
8-The boys went caroling at an assisted living facility with church on Sunday evening. They did a great job and the residents really enjoyed it. It was great to see them chatting with the residents and singing those carols. Apparently the only Christmas song they absolutely will not sing there is Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Makes sense…

Bonus 9-I met some friends on Sunday for church, lunch, and shopping downtown. I haven’t been to church in a while and it was nice to be back. Our lunch was lovely and I picked up a few things from my list while we were shopping.
There are our eight great things this weekend. I also got a good bit of wrapping done and started making candy. I hope you had a great weekend and an easy Monday! We have full days of school through Friday and then are off for break. It is going to be a marathon, but I know we can do it. I am excited to have a whole weekend AND a day between school ending and Christmas Eve. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love the Friday night tradition to look at Christmas lights! It sounds like a good weekend and glad you got a start on your Christmas wrapping and baking. I hope it is a fun last week of school for 2024!
Aw, that does sound like such a fabulous weekend!
I LOVE how Luke will be taking over the light tradition- that is amazing! Sounds like you got so much done this weekend- good for you!
I came back to visit Eight Great. Your house looks lovely!
Thank you! Glad you came back!
