Happy Tuesday! It’s almost the end of the month, so I am sharing the books I read this month and what I am currently reading. I am linking up with the Share Your Shelf ladies – Joanne, Marilyn, Tanya, and Jenn – so be sure to check them out on Thursday for other great bookish posts.

The Husbands by Holly Gramazio ☀️☀️☀️☀️

Lauren comes home after a particularly fun night and finds her husband in her flat. The problem is that she isn’t married. She checks in with her family and friends and they confirm that she is in fact married to this man. Lauren soon realizes that something funny is going on in her attic. When her current husband goes into the attic, he disappears, and a new one comes down the stairs. Lauren goes through tons of husbands before figuring out the best way to make this attic/husband situation work for her. I enjoyed the book even if I thought it went on a little longer than it needed to.
Spy School Revolution by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

Luke and I listened to this one as we went back and forth to soccer practices and we found ourselves sitting in the car when we got home to keep listening. In this installment of the Spy School series, Ben and his friends are fighting a enemy that dates back to the American Revolution, the Croatoan. The book took place all around Washington, DC and made me regret that we didn’t get to Mount Vernon this summer, as it was a prominent setting in the book. We’ll get there some day, don’t worry! Like the others in the series, the book is funny, fast-paced, and exciting. Luke and I loved it!
If You Would Have Told Me by John Stamos (audio) ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I love litstening to memoirs read by the author and this was no exception. John Stamos is a great narrator and has an interesting story to tell. I knew that he was friends with Bob Saget, but I didn’t realize how close he was. John Stamos has had many highs and quite a few lows in his life and he shared them with the reader with honesty and love. I had no idea he loved Disneyland or Knottsberry farm as much as he did. If you loved him on Full House, or in any other show, you’ll enjoy this book!
The Cliffs by J. Courtney Sullivan ☀️☀️☀️☀️
**SUNSHINE AND BOOKS 2024 SUMMER BEACH READ**

I had read differing reviews about this book, but I loved it. There is heartbreak and loss for the main character, Jane, but there is also redemption and she finds her way. A beautiful, coastal town in Maine is the setting for this multiple timeline story. As a teenager, Jane found an abandoned house and felt drawn to it. The house and the land it is on is the touchstone for multiple women through time and their stories are all woven together in a wonderful way. I am so glad to have read this book and I am adding this region of Maine to my want to visit list.
Just Add Water by Katie Ledecky (audio) ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Like I already told you, I love listening to memoirs read by the author. I was so excited to read Katie’s book and when I saw that she was reading the audio version, I put it on my library holds list immediately. As a former competive swimmer, former swim coach, swim mom, and swim fan, I was interested in EVERY SINGLE THING Katie had to say. I mean EVERY SINGLE THING! I loved hearing her training philosophies, Olympic experiences, swimming thoughts, and other antectodotes she shared with us. I loved hearing about her family and how swimming was important to them, too. It was great to hear Katie’s voice telling the story, but I did speed it up to 1.25x. If you are an Olympic fan, a swimming fan, or enjoy hearing how people that are the best in their field succeed, I recommend this one.
The Guncle Abroad by Steven Rowley ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
**SUNSHINE AND BOOKS 2024 SUMMER BEACH READ**

Oh, I loved this book! I was excited to catch up with GUP and the kids. Their travel itinerary was incredible. I loved how Steven Rowley had Maise and Grant grow and develop their personalities. I finished this book sitting in the stands at Luke’s soccer practice and I cried a bit. Steven Rowley does such a great job of entertaining while hitting the emotions just right. I sure hope there is a third Guncle book!
Spy School At Sea by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

Luke and I finished this one and decided to keep reading the Spy School series. In this book Ben and the gang end up on a cruise ship going from Nicaragua through the Panama Canal to the Carribean. His usual nemisis, Murray Hill, is on the ship and Ben has to figure out what Murray is up to. Jessica Shang is back from Spy Ski School and so is Dane Bramidge. There is humor and suspense through the whole story and we loved it!
The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead and Wendy Mass

I finally finished this book. It took me so long because I was struggling to find time to pick it up. It was great! I loved the mystery about the town’s library. I loved that it was told from multiple points of view. I thought the relationship between Evan and his dad evolved in a nice way. I thought the authors did a great job creating characters that think and feel like real 5th graders. I am so excited for more of my students to read it!
Summer Fridays by Suzanne Rindell ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book, but I liked it. It was fun to think about life before social media, cell phones, and constant communication. Sawyer and Nick meet at a work party for their significant others. Nick is cocky and rude when they meet, but tracks Sawyer down to apologize. They decide to meet on a summer Friday, which is a new concept to me, and it all goes from there. Their friendship develops as they get to know each other, themselves, and the city of New York. It was a good beachy book from a new to me author.

Reading Soon: The Plan by Kendra Adachi, The Five Second Rule by Mel Robbins, or The High Five Habit by Mel Robbins
I have all three of these nonfiction books to read and I am not sure which one I am going to start. I am leaning towards The Plan or The Five Second Rule. Have you read any of them? Do you have any recommendations?
You can always checkout what I’ve been reading on my Books 2024 page. I have all of my yearly reading pages linked here if you want to see what I’ve been reading for the last 5 years.
This was a great reading and listening month. I am getting excited to start reading some Christmas books next month. What have you been reading lately? Have you read any of the books I read this month? What did you think of them? Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Ohhh what a great list- thanks so much for sharing- I think I need to grab “Summer Fridays”
You had a great month of reading!
I’ve been waiting very impatiently for The Guncle Abroad to become available through our local library.
You have some good ones listed. I have Katie Ledecky’s book on my to-read list so am glad to hear you liked it.
I wish I had this much time to read!! Or, more accurately, made more time to read 🙂
Go with The Plan – I like Mel Robbins but think I get “enough” from her podcasts. I could say the same about Kendra but I really think this book of hers is going to have a lot of new material. We’ll see.
My niece was a competitive swimmer and I do like hearing about how athletes do what they do so may pick up Katie’s book. Thanks for the review!
I do love a book about books, so will check out The Lost Library. Very interested to read the Katie Ledecke book also. Jen – bestbookishblog.com
I loved The Husbands! Such a clever premise. I’ve been eying Katie Ledecky’s autobiography.
