Hello Monday – 9/3/24

Happy Tuesday! Whoa! Last week was quite a week. I know that the week I go back to work is always a doozy, but this one hit harder. I could barely string together two sentences after Tuesday and it didn’t get better all week. When I reread my Friday post, I laughed. I completely forgot to include posts from the week AND my ending paragraph. My brain was completely fried! I’m joining Holly to share some fun from the end of August. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

I am still smiling thinking about how much fun our quick trip to the beach was. The Wheeland Brothers concert was so much fun! The weather was absolutely perfect and we soaked up all the sun, sand, and sea. It was just what we needed to get ready for back to school.

We got home Friday night because we had plans on Saturday evening. We packed overnight bags and headed to Hershey, Pennsylvania because we had tickets to Pitbull! The kids were bummed when we missed his concert last fall, so I was excited when we got these. It was quite a show! Pitbull is a great performer and we had a blast. In between his songs, he had some strong messages for the teens and young adults in the crowd. He advised them to put down the phones, work on relationships, leadership skills, and learning. We found out that he has 12 charter schools for students in need that focus on science, leadership, art, and music. I had no idea and it was neat to hear Pitbull talk about the schools.

We were up and at ’em early Sunday morning because we had kindergarten meet and greet at the pool and Jack had to lifeguard. I was planning to come home for dinner, but it turned into another all-dayer for Luke and me. Jeff and Jack went to play golf after Jack got off work.

This is a Summer Sarah lunch at its finest. Ran out to the grocery store and grabbed an absolutely random assortment of items to make into a meal for anyone who was hungry.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – I literally sat in meetings ALL DAY LONG. I felt like Kid Rock when he says “I ain’t seen the sunshine in three damn days”. It was rough! My brain was fried with so much information coming in. My body was sore from so much sitting. My mind was running with all the things I needed to get done. This was my Monday outfit. I had to make sure there was no confusion…

Jack had orientation on Tuesday and his first full day of school on Wednesday. It was a great start!

Thursday, Friday – We didn’t have any meetings and I could get things done in the library which was exactly what I needed to do. We had open house and I got to see so many students, which I love. I didn’t get everything done and brought some work home to do this weekend but I got a good chunk done.

Luke came home from Camp GigiPop on Friday evening. He had the best week with my parents!

On Saturday, we spent some time at the pool. Jeff had to work Saturday night. Luke and I cheered on JMU football from the couch. Jack went to a friend’s house for the night.

On Sunday, Jeff got together with some friends and picked Jack up on his way home. Luke and I ended up having an all-dayer at the pool. We planned to come home for dinner, but friends were at the pool and it was the second to last day. We stayed and soaked up the fun. It got a little chilly but reading by the pool is so relaxing!

On Monday, Jeff played golf early. Jack had to work at the pool. Luke and I hung at the pool with friends. Jeff joined us after golf. Monday was the last day of the pool. I got there a little early to take down the bulletin boards and to extend the last day a little bit. It was so crowded, but I loved it. All the friends were there and that felt so good! I am sad to see another season come to end, but we had a lot of fun this year.

We have a saying at work that I would always say on Friday afternoon when we switch classes at the end of the day – Last one, best one. As much as I don’t want to see the pool season end, today was a last one best one for sure!!

All-dayer crew!
I think this was our 7th all-dayer of the year.

I did have a few seating charts to make for this week so I did it poolside! That was a way better idea than staying home to do them.

The pool may be closed, but we need to remember this friends! The first full day of fall is September 23rd. Keep on summering!

Today is the first day of school for Luke and he’s looking forward to 8th grade. I am excited to see almost 500 sweet students coming down the hall at school this morning. Our calendar looks like we are back in the thick of things with swim, soccer, back to school nights, and football games. I’m hoping to post every day this week – Currently on Wednesday, Reading Update on Thursday, and Favorites on Friday – but I have no idea what this week will bring. That first week back can be unpredictable. Be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I always feel some kind of way about the “end of summer”. I’m usually both lamenting it and ready. We spent an afternoon in our pool Sunday and it was so nice, but I know we’ll be closing it by month’s end – yes, even in Florida!

We still have summer weather and were in the lake this weekend. I love September on the lake as it’s quiet but the water is still as warm as bath water. I hold on to summer in terms of clothes and decor until it’s officially fall. I do love fall though and am ready for a change in seasons. Sounds like you had a great summery week. It’s good to hear Pitbull is giving positive messages to his fans.
