Happy Friday! This is my last Friday of summer, which is definitely not a favorite, but I am writing this from one of my favorite places. The beach!

Favorite 1: BOOKS (on the beach)!! We have been to the beach a few times this summer, but I haven’t brought a real book until this trip. I finished Seven Summer Weekends by Jane L. Rosen and it was great! Unbelievably, I haven’t read any of Jimmy Buffett’s books. I was talking to a fellow parrothead at the pool the other day and he let me borrow this book. I read over half of it yesterday on the beach. It’s great and so fun to revisit some of the characters from Jimmy’s songs in the book.

Favorite 2: SUNSHINE (at the beach)!! Before yesterday, I hadn’t gotten up to see a sunrise on the beach this summer. I love sunrise on the beach. It’s peaceful and I can start my day with the sunshine.

Favorite 3: CONCERTS (at the beach)!! I am a huge Wheeland Brothers fan and when I found out they were playing at the beach while we were here I bought tickets immediately. Nate and Travis were so awesome! They hung out with the crowd before and after the show. The show was everything I hoped it would be and more! They like to play at a smaller venue closer to home and I will be on the lookout to see them again.

The kids had a good time and were excited to tell Travis and Nate that they enjoyed the show as we were heading out.

Favorite 4: GOLF (at the beach)!! We played putt putt last night and I got not one, but TWO hole-in-ones. I love playing putt putt with my family. I am usually pretty terrible, but I tied for the win last night!

Favorite 5: BEACH!! We have been at the beach for a few days and are coming home tonight. It has been pretty empty down here. I have never seen the beach this uncrowded in August, but I am not complaining. Of course, we’ve run into friends a few times, but over all it is pretty quiet. The weather has been great, even though it’s a little chilly when the sun goes behind the clouds. I am so happy that we came down for one last time before school started.

Favorite 6: CONCERTS! I went to New Kids on the Block last weekend with a bunch of moms from our town. It was so fun!! DJ Jazzy Jeff opened, Paula Abdul came on next, and NKOTB was the main event. They were so good and we had so much fun! They are getting older, but they can still sing and dance.

Hello Monday – NYC

I am looking forward to another beautiful day on the beach today. We are going to another concert tomorrow night and I can’t wait for it. I am planning to spend all day Sunday at the pool relaxing before I head back to work on Monday. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
