Happy Friday! What a week this has been! We’ve traveled, I’ve worked, been to doctor’s appointments, and officially started summer! I have some favorites from the week, so let’s get to them!

Favorite 1: GOLF!! We were in Pinehurst, NC for the U.S. Open last week and it was so much fun! Jack, Jeff, and my dad were volunteers at the tournament. Luke, my brother-in-law Zach, and I were spectators. My mom, sister, and niece held down the fort at the pool and house. We had the best time and I am planning to recap our week on Monday, so be sure to come back for that!

Favorite 2: OLYMPICS!! The Team USA athletes aren’t the only ones preparing for the Olympics this week. We’ve been watching the swimming and diving Olympic trials all week. I’m practicing sitting still and watching tv for hours at a time. It doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’ll keep working at it for the Olympics!

Favorite 3: SUMMER SARAH!! She is officially back friends! I finished work yesterday around noon and headed to the pool for a few hours. I talked with friends and read. It was so great! I could feel the stress and responsibilities floating out of my brain.

Favorite 4: SWIMMING! It is no secret that I love swimming and swim team. This summer our team asked Jack to be a junior coach and I finally got to see him in action this week. It truly warms my heart to see him so involved in the swimming world.

I’m not sure if I ever shared my history with swim coaching, so here it is. My first job, aside from babysitting, was coaching swim team and working in the pool snack shack. In fact, Jack and Luke’s club swimming coach is the same coach that hired me for my first coaching job. Talk about full circle! I coached our summer swim team for years. I also coached a USS team in college and during my first year teaching in Charlotte, North Carolina. I coached a summer swim team in Charlotte and another summer team when I moved back to Maryland. I stopped coaching in after the summer of 2011 because Jack was 2, Luke was a few months old, and Jeff became an athletic director so he worked all the summer.
Favorite 5: SUNSHINE!! Yesterday was the longest day of the year. I popped outside to catch the last bit of sunshine at almost 9 pm. I love the evening sunshine glow! We also ate dinner outside and I read on the deck after dinner. It was so lovely to enjoy all that sunshine!

Favorite 6: HYDRANGEAS! It seems to be a theme among bloggers that hydrangeas didn’t do so well last year, but they are coming back strong this year. These are a little smaller bush variety of hydrangeas and didn’t bloom after we planted them last year. They are blooming like crazy already this summer and I am thrilled. I love this pink color!

I am looking forward to a great day at the pool. The boys have swim team pictures and a fun swim team practice this morning and then we’ll stay and play for a bit. The boys have their first swim meet of the summer season this weekend and we are swimming at the pool where I grew up. I’m so excited! I am heading back to the beach for a very quick overnight, but the beach is always worth it! I hope you have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Oh yes I feel like I have never seen so many blooms on my hydrangeas before. Yay for summer Sarah making a comeback and for swimming and summer fun!!
So glad you are able to decompress from work and enjoy the sunshine and those beautiful hydrangeas! Enjoy the weekend!
I didn’t know you used to be a swim coach. No wonder your boys love swim team and the pool! Have a good weekend!
The golf does sound like fun. It looks like everyone was having a great time.
I am looking forward to watching the Olympics. I love the diving especially.
Well done to Jack with the coaching. Good luck to him.
I loved yesterday, it was such a nice day here too and was only getting dark coming on for 10pm.
The US open experience looks amazing. How fun. Yay summer Sarah!
