What’s Up Wednesday – 3/27/24

Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!

Linking up with Sheaffer and Shay

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…

WHAT I’M LOVING…

I had a great time at the gala last weekend with Jeff. It’s fun to get dressed up every once in a while.

I got to stop by the pool yesterday so we could have new chairs delivered. I love visiting the pool, even when it’s not open because I know it will be open soon. And by soon, I mean in 59 days!

I am loving all the sunshine! I have been pretty good getting at least 23 minutes outside every day. This week I’ve gone for a run, a walk, and hung out at the driving range with Jack.

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

I have been doing the three CHs – cheerleader, chef, and chauffer! I feel like those are my roles this spring. I am cheering the boys on at soccer, lacrosse, and golf. We are eating at home a lot more and I am working to add more protein and fiber to our plates. There are quite a few nights each week that the boys have first dinner and second dinner between 3 pm and 9 pm. And, I am driving people places every single night. Thankfully, I have a co-chauffer Jeff who is usually driving one kid while I am driving the other. Don’t get me wrong, I love it! But this is pretty much all I’m doing these days.

WHAT I’M DREADING…

I watched the news all day yesterday and it was just devastating. The Francis Scott Key bridge, or the Key bridge as we call it in Maryland, collapsed early Tuesday morning. I am so sad for the families of the 6 people still missing. The impact on the people of Baltimore will be immense. The Port of Baltimore is a major employer in our area and so many families will be affected while it is shut down. I know that Maryland is tough and Baltimore is strong and we will rebuild, but I am dreading all the hardships that are coming as a result of this tragic accident.

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

Well, I am taking another class right now. This one is about an organizational approach to SEL (social emotional learning). This is the third class I’ve taken regarding SEL and it is so interesting. I am hoping that I can make a big impact on my students and my school with the information I learn in the next four weeks.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

Spring Break starts today at 2:45! We typically have a very, very short Spring Break. I am talking Good Friday and Easter Monday short. This year we have Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off. I’ve already started a way too long list of things I’d like to do with those extra two days.

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…

I shared what I’ve been reading yesterday. It is a mix of adult books, children books, and professional reading.

We’ve been watching the NCAA basketball tournament on the weekends. My bracket isn’t doing very well. It was so fun to watch JMU win in the first round and play in the second round. They didn’t beat Duke, but I am still so proud to be a JMU Duke!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

As I type this, I realized I want to start listening to audio books again. I have been listening to a lot of podcasts lately. The ones I listen to the most are Up First by NPR, I’ve Had It, Best Laid Plans, The Lazy Genius, The Mom Hour, and Best of Both Worlds.

WHAT I’M WEARING…

Spring colors that are still warm! After a decieving warm spell, it has been chilly again!

WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…

Getting ready for Easter and celebrating Jack! For the second time in his life, Jack’s birthday is on Easter.

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…

Warmer weather!

That’s what we’ve been up to this month. I’m hoping to settle into a routine in April and have a little more time to share here on the blog. I am going to spend the night at our house both nights this weekend, which hasn’t happened since the beginning of March and I know that will feel good. I’ll be back tomorrow for Monthly Musings, so be sure to come by for a visit. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I just saw footage of the bridge collapse last night and could not believe my eyes! My heart goes out to all those affected. THANK GOODNESS it didn’t happen during rush hour! Our weather has turned real cold again too and I am just trying to hang on for nice sunny warm weather.

Thinking of you all in the Baltimore area. One of my best friends here is from Baltimore and has been keeping me posted. She explained the devastation that awaits. Looking forward to more spring clothes and warmer temps next month!
