Reading Update – 12/12/23

Happy Tuesday! I am linking up with Shooting Stars to show you the books I read this month. When I shared my reading update in November, I was reading four books at the same time. I am happy to report that I finished three of them and I am back to only reading two right now.

Reign by Katharine McGee ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

While I am always sad to see a series end, I loved this book. This is the fourth and final book in the series that has followed the royal family of America. As a British royal family fan, it was fun to see how Katharine imagined the United States with a royal family and all that goes along with it. I was thrilled to see how Beatrice, Samantha, and Jefferson landed at the end of the story. It’s a YA series and I loved it!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (audio) ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I forgot how dark this book gets, but it is still so great! Luke and I loved listening to the final book in the series. I loved the whole series and listening to it was a great way to enjoy it together!

Love, Holly by Emily Stone ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I enjoyed this book, like all of Emily Stone’s other books. My only issue with this book is that it isn’t a Christmas book. It takes place around Christmases but it’s not a Christmas book. It is a great book about strangers, relationships, and overcoming tragedies, just not a Christmas book. I feel like I should share that there is pregnancy loss and car accidents mentioned repeatedly through the book. If that is hard for you to read about, definitely skip this one.

Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I loved this book. It was so fun to revisit Carmen and Mr. McCreedie at the bookstore. I am always in for a series and this one hit the mark. I really liked the path that Jenny Colgan took the characters and was happy with how it ended.

Currently Reading: Honestly Elliott by Gillian McDunn

Currently Reading: Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews

You can always checkout what I’ve been reading on my Books 2023 page. If you scroll to the bottom of that Books 2023 page, I have all of my yearly reading pages linked. I also have a list of new Christmas books if you are looking for one to read and the lists from previous years.

I am hoping to read more this month than I did last month. I have some swim meet time and we have a week off after Christmas so hopefully that will equal bunches of reading time for me. What have you been reading lately? Anything you love? Have a great day full of sunshine and Christmas books!
