Reading Lately – 3/14/23

Happy Tuesday! I am linking up with Shooting Stars to show you the books I read this month. This has been a busy month and a little weird for my reading habits. I’ve read some kids books and some adult books. I want to get back to listening to a book while I drive around or work. Hopefully next month will have at least one audio book listed as finished.

Endless Summer by Elin Hilderbrand ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I said it once and I’ll say it again. I love Elin’s books! This was such a lovely treat to read. Revisiting favorite characters from Elin’s books was such a joy! It felt like a love letter to her biggest fans. As a reader, I always wonder what happens to the characters after a book ends and Elin let us know here. Thank you Elin! This was a great read!!

The Swedish Art of Aging Exuberantly: Life Wisdom from Someone Who Will (Probably) Die Before You Will by Margareta Magnusson ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I heard about this author years ago when her first book was released, The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning, but I haven’t read it. This book popped up on my Libby app so I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed it. There were neat stories and advice about aging and making the most of the time you have. Each short chapter had a piece of advice with a story from her life that helped you understand what she was recommending. Margareta lived all over the world in her life and one of her homes was in Maryland quite close to me. That was fun to read and hear a Swedish perspective on my home state. I’m glad I read it and I might read her other book, too.

Bird & Squirrel on the Edge! by James Burks

As part of my February goals, I wanted to read a children’s graphic novel. I’ve thumbed through this series before because it is in my school library. The kids love it so I figured I would give it a read. It is very cute and fun to read. I can see why our readers enjoy it! There are 7 books in the series. We only have 4 in our school library, but I will probably order the other 3 for next year.

Five Winters by Kitty Johnson ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I ordered this book because I saw it super cheap on Book Bub and it looked great. The story takes place over the course of five winters (duh!) and is a wonderful story of friendship, love, family, and becoming an adult. Beth is has been in love with her best friend’s older brother since she was a little girl. She has also become a part of her best friend’s family since her parents both died when she was a child. The story follows Beth trying to figure out love, relationships, becoming a mother, and finding happiness. I thought it was a great book!

Good Luck with That by Kristan Higgins ☀️☀️☀️

I generally like Kristan Higgins books but this one took me a long time to read because I found I wasn’t picking it up very often. The story was ok, but it just wasn’t for me. I loved Out of the Clear Blue Sky and can’t wait to read A Little Ray of Sunshine in June. This book just wasn’t my favorite.

Currently Reading: Class Act by Jerry Craft
