1. Any last day of school traditions?
We always take a picture in the morning. I usually have to work the whole day and my mom picks the kids up from school. She takes them out to lunch and then to the pool or they play in the backyard with friends. The kids get to pick what they want to do that day!
2. Do you make a summer list? What is everyone looking forward to this summer?
We make a very loose summer list, but rarely accomplish everything. Summer Sarah often chooses pool and beach days over activities.
We are all looking forward to our vacations. We are going back to The Greenbrier right now and everyone is so excited!
I am looking forward to The Olympics!! 29 more days!!
3. Any summer vacation plans?
You bet!! We’ve already been to Deep Creek Lake. We’re headed for a long weekend with my parents and my sister’s family right now! We have two beach trips planned and I’m always looking to add something fun!
4. Favorite summer outfits? What do you live in in the summer?
My ideal summer clothes are pjs to exercise clothes to bathing suit to pjs. I can’t always pull it off, but it’s amazing when I do! Even when that doesn’t work, I do try to organize my summer days so I wear a bathing suit and exercise clothes every day.
I love to wear as many bright clothes as I can in the summer – Lilly is my number one summer girl!
5. Favorite summer meal?
Maryland steamed crabs, eastern shore silver queen corn on the cob, my mom’s (grandmother’s) cucumbers & onions, and Hoffman’s ice cream is my very favorite summer meal. It’s so perfectly summer!
In the summer, I also love anything grilled and eaten outside. Jeff makes the best grilled chicken! I pair it with a caprese salad, fresh cucumbers and pepper slices from our garden, and an ice cold glass of white wine. Yum!!
6. Do you end school on May or June? How about when you were growing up?
We end in June and always have. We also go back after Labor Day so we still have a nice long summer. In my perfect world, school would go from Labor Day to Memorial Day and everyone would do their best to get the required hours in. Doesn’t that sound wonderful??
7. Bikini? Tankini? One piece?
I wear bikinis, but I did buy a one piece this week. I have a long torso so I’ve had a hard time finding comfortable one pieces and tankinis. my favorite suits are from Title 9. They are comfortable, stay put, and have enough coverage that I feel great running into students at the pool.
8. What are your 4th of July plans?
For the second year in a row, we aren’t going to the beach. We’ll go to the pool during the day and head to a friend’s house for a party that night. We did that last year and our friend’s neighbors put on fabulous fireworks displays!
9. Do you dress in red, white, and blue on July 4th?
You better believe I do!! I love dressing in red, white, and blue! And this year the Olympics mean red white and blue all summer long!
Our whole family loves to rock the red, white, and blue on the 4th of July!
10. Charcoal or gas grill?
Gas grill all the way! I love the smell of a charcoal grill, but I pick the ease and reliability of a gas grill every time.
We’ll, that was so fun! I love thinking about all the good times we have in the summer and I’m looking forward to a super fun summer in 2021!! I can’t wait to see what everyone has to say. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
