Friday Favorites – 10/30/20

Happy Friday! We had a great week, even though I spent more time looking like these three versions of myself than anything else.

I’m sharing my favorites from this week with Erika and Andrea.

Favorite 1: JEFF KINNEY!! I don’t know how many more ways I can say it, but our local independent bookstore is THE VERY BEST!! Even in the time of social distancing and masking, they are still bringing authors to us. This week Jeff Kinney came while on tour for his new book, The Deep End. We had the incredible opportunity to host him in our backyard for a fun water balloon afternoon! When Jeff pulled up in his Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Deep End van, these four boys were over the moon excited!

As expected, Jeff Kinney and the people with him were fantastic with the kids. They had a water balloon toss. Shot water balloon bow and arrows at each other and then launched water balloons at Greg Heffley.

Then, we joined the drive through pool party. It was so cool! I was really impressed with how interactive it was while everyone stayed in their cars. I am pretty sure that Wednesday will go down as one of the best days of 2020 for Jack and Luke!!

Favorite 2: Halloween! I’ve been rocking my Halloween shirts and jewelry all week. When you work in an elementary school and only see kids one day a week, you can spread it all out.

Favorite 3: BASEBALL!! Jack is playing on a new team this year and he is absolutely loving it. He is alway excited to go to practice and leaves with a smile this big every time!

Favorite 4: HOMEWORK!! While homework isn’t really a favorite, it was fun to work with Luke in the back of my van this week. Jack had practice about 20 minutes away and Jeff had to work late. So, we packed up his stuff and hit the trunk.

Favorite 5: SIGNS!! Luke got a hold of the masking tape and decided that Jeff and I could enter about half the time and Jack has to stay out.

Favorite 6: THANKSGIVING!! I know it’s still October, but this month’s Monthly Musings has me thinking about Thanksgiving and I am getting excited for it. I know some things will be different – parade, turkey trot, etc. – but I love that it is a holiday where we spend some time with family and enjoy each other.

Favorite 7: BOOKS!! The boys and I have been reading like crazy. They are devouring and re-devouring the Wimpy Kid books and I can’t get enough of Jenny Colgan’s books. It’s so nice to have authors that we know will be a perfect fit!

This week on Sunshine & Books:
Hello Monday
Tuesday Book Release Day
What’s Up Wednesday
Monthly Musings

We are excited for this weekend! We are celebrating birthdays, the kids are trick-or-treating, and Jack has his last golf tournament for the season. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Wow, that Jeff Kinney visit looks incredible. My son went to a Rick Riordan event when he was in junior high, and I was so impressed with how interactive the author was even in a large auditorium setting. And then even more impressed when I thought that he probably does that several days each week. Have a wonderful weekend! Tanya – The Other Side of the Road

Jeff Kinney visit! Wow! I showed Hayden, and he thought it was so cool! I do too 🙂 And Luke’s masking tape and signs … hilarious! My kids do that too sometimes. Have a great weekend!
