Friday Favorites – 10/16/20

Happy Friday! This has been quite a week. Jeff and I have been two ships passing in the afternoon for the past 10 days and I’m hoping it gets better soon! He’s been super busy at work and I headed back to school yesterday. Kids start in a hybrid model in our county on Monday in elementary and middle schools. All of the unknown has not been a favorite, but we are staying optimistic and hoping that it goes smoothly for everyone! I’m linking up with the girls to share my favorites from the week today.

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! I love road trip reading! I finished 3 books on our road trip and started a fourth. We’ve been running around a bunch lately and I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like so it was a welcome change. I enjoyed all three books I finished and can’t wait to see what happens in the fourth!

I extra enjoyed my Wednesday lunch time because it was my last day working from home with a little longer lunch break. I started The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunshine and I can’t wait to see what happens!

Favorite 2: AUTHORS!! If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I love to meet authors and hear them talk about their books. It just makes the books seem so much better! Thanks to two independent bookstores, I was able to hear Elin Hilderbrand and Lisa Jewell talk about their newest books this week. They both talked for about an hour and shared so many great anecdotes about their lives and writing process! My apologies to Elin and Lisa because it is really hard to get a smiling screenshot on a Zoom meeting.

And the morning after I listened to the Elin talk, we basically became best friends on facebook. 😉

Favorite 3: SISTER!! I have never ever gone this long without seeing my sister and I finally got to see her last weekend! It was a long drive (see above reading) but so worth it. Annie’s pregnant and looks so fantastic! She’s feeling great and we had so much fun at her virtual shower. The cake was AMAZING!

Favorite 4: GIRLFRIENDS!! I met Jamie, Kerry, and Sarah to walk on Friday night for the American Heart Association walk because Jamie is a survivor! ❤️ She had a heart attack this summer at 40 and it was totally unexpected. It was an honor to walk with her! And then she made yummy taquitos and corn dip for a fun happy hour!

Favorite 5: JEWELRY! It is always a good day when your jewelry can match the book you are reading to kindergarteners! How cute are these black cats from Cora’s Den?? They were perfect for reading Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel. If your kiddos haven’t read his picture books or chapter books, I highly recommend them. They are too funny!

Favorite 6: COMPUTERS!! Even though it is a little stressful when technology doesn’t work like I want it to, I am so thankful for our technology! I am also pretty happy that I am the tech point person at my school because I feel way more confident when there is a glitch at home! On Thursday evening, I was working on my work computer, my home computer, and the kids’ chromebooks to make sure everything was up to date and ready to roll on Monday. The boys will be here with a sitter when I go to school on Monday and Tuesday. They will go to school on Thursday and Friday. All 3 of us will be home on Wednesdays.

That’s all I have for the week. We have a fun weekend full of soccer, baseball, golf, and lacrosse. I’m planning on getting the front of our house fall ready with pumpkins, mums, and maybe mulch. Hopefully we’ll see both sets of our parents and some friends this weekend! Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

Oh I just LOVED Coyote Sunrise (though I did cry quite a bit as it gets pretty sad). Your sister looks great and I bet you were both so excited to each other.
