What’s Up Wednesday – 2/26/20

Happy Wednesday!! I’m excited to be back blogging after this weekend and beginning of the week. I’ve had pink eye and a pretty rough cold and I was away with my sister last weekend. I’m going to jump right into the What’s Up Wednesday questions with Sheaffer and Shay.

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
Monday – pulled chicken taquitos
Tuesday – out to support the kids’ school fundraiser
Wednesday – popcorn shrimp and salad
Thursday – chicken bbq
Friday – I have no idea
Saturday – I have no idea
Sunday – chicken, maybe

WHAT I’M LOVING…
I am loving looking at our vacation pictures on our Echo Show in the kitchen. Aruba, I really do love you!!!
I am also loving that I’m going to see my sister 2 weekends in a row!! We were together last weekend and I’ll see her again on Friday!

🎶 Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters 🎶

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
All the sports!!! The schedule this winter season has been INSANE!! Jeff and I were talking last night about how we can make it a bit easier next year. We’ve been to swim meets, basketball games, soccer games, and practices for swim, baseball, and basketball. The boys have done so well and that’s amazing, but it also means their seasons are continuing into playoffs and more swim meets than we had originally planned.

There was one exception to that schedule yesterday and we lived it up!! We had lightsaber battles, swung from the moldings, played golf, went out to dinner, and even watched a little weeknight tv. It was incredible! **Note to self – try to figure out more days like this**

WHAT I’M DREADING…
Honestly, I am dreading working a 5 day week. I haven’t had one in over a month and when it finally comes, it may kick my booty. 😉

I am also dreading another possible day in my glasses. I got pink eye (thanks students) and have been in my glasses since Friday!! Do you know how hard it is for me to function in my glasses?? I am perpetually hot. I can’t hear as well (I know it sounds ridiculous but it’s true). I am a little cranky. I don’t have great peripheral vision because of the frames. And they are a total pain to exercise in!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
My work for our pool is starting to ramp up. I am the membership chair and helping with swim team this year.

We are finishing up our school wide book club on Friday and it has been a good one!! Frindle has been a favorite across the grade levels and I think some of our readers are delving into some of Andrew Clement’s other books, too. Success!

Our gym has a challenge to complete 4 classes in each of the three studios before the end of the month. I am going to finish up tomorrow with a BodyFlow class. I have learned a few things about myself in this challenge. The number one thing is I don’t love cycling and I can only do about 30 minutes before I really, really hate it! #alwayslearning

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
I am excited to see my sister again this weekend! My mom and I are heading to Hilton Head for her shower. We always have a great time when we are together!!

I am also pretty excited to run a 5K while we are there. I love listening to the Another Mother Runner podcast while I run and the there is an AMR retreat in Hilton Head this weekend. I am not joining the retreat, but I am going to run with them on Sunday morning!

I am excited for Luke to learn to play an instrument. He brought his first two recorder songs home and has been practicing a bunch. He’s getting pretty good!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I finally finished Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce on Netflix. It was so good! I also finished Cheer on Netflix and I’ve moved on to season 3 of The Crown. I save my Netflix shows for running on the treadmill. Needless to say, I have been doing a lot of treadmill running.

I just finished Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid and Summer of ‘79 by Elin Hilderbrand. I thought both of them were good!! I’ll have an official review coming soon. I also read The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell. I love how she can write books that are mysterious and suspenseful but not scary. I am a hard no on scary books – too many nightmares come from them.

Love that Lisa Jewell!!

WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH…
I am looking forward to spring forward. I know it will be dark in the morning but it will be so much lighter in the evenings (I think). I’m looking forward to spring sports and more outside time!
March is usually a long month for teachers – no breaks, no early dismissal days, no snow days – but when we get through March it will be full fledged spring!! And I am most definitely looking forward to that!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…
Well, it’s not new yet, but I thought I’d give you a sneak peek of some posts that are coming in the next month. I am hoping that after this weekend I’ll have a better handle on my evenings and my sleep/exercise schedule so I can follow the blog calendar I’ve set up for myself. Fingers crossed!!
Coming next month:
☀️ Declare It Day
☀️ Book Reviews
☀️ Asheville trip
☀️ Hilton Head trip
☀️ How We Winter Swim
☀️ and all the regulars – Let’s Look, Show Us Your Books, Monthly Goals, Tuesday Talk, Monthly Musing, What I’m Priming, etc.

Have a great day full of sunshine and books!!

We visited Aruba for the first time on a cruise in January and LOVED it!!! We went to the beach and I would LOVE to go back!

I wanted to give up “being busy” for Lent but sadly, our schedule doesn’t allow it. Boo 🙁 But I hear you on looking for empty days on the calendar.

And I am a substitute secretary/librarian in our school system and I am working all five days this week too! We’re halfway through — we can do it!!!

I just downloaded Summer of ’79 to my kindle yesterday but I have to admit I’m kind of lost right now because I don’t remember who is who from summer of ’69 yet.

Oh no! I bet it will come back to you. It was mostly the sisters (Kirby, Jessie, and Blair), Tiger the brother that was in Vietnam, and their parents Kate and David. Blair’s husband’s, Angus, brother was the one that I couldn’t remember, but Elin gives a little reminder. Enjoy it!
