What’s Up Wednesday – 9/25/19

Happy Wednesday! We are in the middle of a really fun but busy week! I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share what’s up.

I’ve been working on eating from our fridge/freezer/pantry.
Sunday: burgers, cucumbers & onions, deviled eggs
Monday: spaghetti
Tuesday: scrambled eggs & peppers, bacon, watermelon
Wednesday: leftovers
Thursday: meatballs or grilled cheese
Friday: pizza or carry out
Saturday: out

I’m still thinking about all the summer fun we had even though it’s fall.

I am loving my new Apple Watch!! I had a Fitbit Alta for a while but I was so excited to get an Apple Watch. It’s only been a few days and I am still trying to figure out everything it can do. If you have any Apple Watch 4 tips, please leave them in the comments. Thank you!!

The past two weeks have been a bit calmer because the pool where the boys have swim team has been closed for maintenance. They have practice available 5 days a week but only need to go 3-4 times. Between baseball and soccer, I am at the pool 4-5 days a week. It has been nice to just go to one practice each day. However, I think the boys are missing the activity and their swim team friends.
Luke and I met Max Brallier, author of The Last Kids on Earth series last week. We had a great time and are looking forward to watching his new Netflix series!

We celebrated my birthday on Sunday and Monday. We had our families over on Sunday and then on Monday, my mom met me for a glass of wine and appetizer while my dad hung with Jack and Luke at soccer practice.

I am really only dreading two things – darkness and cold weather. You know I am a big time summer girl and I love all the sunshine! I am not looking forward to the days getting shorter and colder. I am looking forward to cooler evenings and not sweating after 5:30 pm when we’re outside, but I want that sun to keep shining warm sunshine on me. I just keep reminding myself that this is always true.

I’ve had a busy but super fun week at work! On Monday, we had a science program with The Science Machine and I was the PTA point person that morning. If you are looking for a great program for an elementary school, The Science Machine would be an incredible choice!!
On Tuesday, we welcomed author and illustrator Jon Agee back to our school. He came four years ago and was fabulous again! He’s a wonderful story teller and a talented artist. His books are funny and our kids love them!
On Tuesday afternoon, I had our inaugural Listen and Lunch for 5th graders. My 5th grade curriculum doesn’t allow for many read aloud and I miss reading with all the kids. So I started Listen and Lunch. The kids come and eat their lunch while they listen to me reading a book to them. It was so much fun and the kids can’t wait to come back next week!
Today we have our annual introduction to the Battle of the Books. This is a reading competition that focuses on the books nominated for the Black Eyed Susan award in Maryland. A team from my school has won the past two years! It is so much fun to see kids so excited about books!

On Friday, I will hit Day 1000 in my Run Streak. I am so excited to run my mile on Friday! I am meeting a few girlfriends to run and then toast to Day 1000. I would love it if you would join us. Run/walk/move 1 mile and post a picture on Instagram using the hashtag #day1000runwithsarah or tag me @sunnyscp. I’m going to keep running on Saturday, but who knows how long this streak will continue.

I haven’t been watching much tv lately. As I type this we are watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and loving it. When I run, I’ve been watching Working Moms on Netflix.

I haven’t been reading as much as I do in the summer because this work thing is taking up a bunch of time. 😉 I did carve some time out to read in the sunshine last weekend and it felt so good! Here’s what I’ve read lately.

You can see all my books for the year here.

I haven’t been listening to anything lately.

Even though it is officially fall, the weather has been all summer all the time. I’ve been wearing lots of summer dresses and tops lately to stay cool.
I won these bracelets in a book giveaway earlier this month. They are from Sassie Rocks and I LOVE them!

On Friday, I’m celebrating Day 1000!! Then on Saturday, my friend Jodi and I are running a homemade half marathon around our town. We were going to sign up for a half, but our schedules just didn’t work out. Then on Saturday night, I have my 21st year class reunion. I’m looking forward to seeing some people that I haven’t seen in 21 years!

I am looking forward to Halloween even though my boys have no idea what they want to be. Lately they pick an athlete who’s jersey they want and decide to be that person for Halloween. Pretty smart if you ask me because they get the jersey they want without waiting for Christmas.
We are going to the beach for a soccer tournament. I am hoping the weather is beautiful and warm so we can get some time on the sand!

I think that covers everything. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

Oh yes, I am dreading the dark and the cold too! I miss the sun and warmth so much in the winter and I feel like as I get older those winter days seem even longer.
