What We’ve Been Up To – 2/13/19

Happy Monday Wednesday! We had snow days on Monday and Tuesday this week, so as I write this it feels like Sunday night all over again. I was planning on sharing a day in the life post, but after two snow days you’d see a whole lot of this:

Just me, my kindle, and my pjs and that’s not very interesting. So I’m going to share a little bit of what we’ve been up to this lately.

On Friday night, we went to the Liberty vs. Century boys’ basketball game. These are the two high schools in our town and the basketball rivalry is HUGE!!! One of the boys’ swim team buddies hit a buzzer beater for Liberty to win the JV game. Everyone went WILD!!! The varsity game was super intense and Century ended up winning by two points. The whole game was super exciting. Jack and Luke know a few of the players from our neighborhood, the pool, and basketball camp last summer so they were pretty pumped to cheer on people they know.

I headed to the gym on Saturday morning for BodyPump class. My Declare It Day goal last year was to get stronger and I really think I am. The instructor told me to start using heavier weights as she was walking around. I did and boy was I feeling it on Sunday morning!

Our Main Street had a Cocoa Crawl on Saturday. No one else wanted to go with me so I headed over alone. To participate, you have to purchase a mug for $5 and then head to the stores!

It was so fun and I got to taste some yummy hot chocolates. Each store had hot chocolate and some had special sales or giveaways for people with the mugs. I found a few books at the bookstore, a present for Sandra’s birthday, and a FABULOUS little rattan purse for this spring and summer!!

Jack had a basketball game and played well! I was so proud of the team and that great coach!

On Saturday night, we got together with the Five Families to celebrate Sandra’s upcoming birthday!! It was such a great evening. We celebrated our girl and had some good catching up time!

A few of the dads did their hat draw. They order 4 hats blindly and then pick numbers to get the hat. It’s always a surprise, and sometimes the hats are a great surprise! Jeff got a Yale hat this year!

On Sunday morning, I headed back to the gym for a run and barre class (getting stronger) and then to the grocery store to prepare for the incoming wintry mix weather. Luke had a soccer game and basketball game in the afternoon and did a great job. He played against his soccer teammate in basketball so it was a fun friends day! Jeff and I accidentally matched with our gray and red baseball tees.

We woke up to a snow day on Monday and Jack asked when his buddies were coming over. So we arranged for some buddies to come over and an epic, 4 hour Nerf battle ensued.

While that was going on I finished one book (review here), You’ve Been Volunteered by Laurie Gelman, and started another, The Southern Side of Paradise by Kristy Woodson Harvey. I am in a book grove here – two great books in a row!

I made some homemade pizza and cookies for some tasty treats!

On Tuesday we had another snow day. We picked up some other buddies and headed to see The Lego Movie 2. It was really good! I highly recommend it! I heard all 4 kiddos laughing out loud a few times in the movie and we jammed out to the soundtrack on the way home!

We’ve been having a lot of fun but I think I am ready to head back to school today. I hope you have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I am linking up with Lindsay and the Welcome Wednesday girls today.

The Cocoa Crawl sounds amazing. I can’t believe no one wanted to go with you! My son saw The Lego Movie 2 but my other son was away and he wants to see it too. I hope my husband will take him!

My middle son and I would have happily joined you on a cocoa crawl! I don’t drink hot tea or coffee but man do I love my cocoa!! I’m hoping to take my boys to see the new Lego movie soon; if we can get an afternoon where the weather cooperates!
