Friday Favorites – 11/2/18

Happy Friday!! This has been quite a week – Halloween and trick-or-treating on Wednesday and parent teacher conferences on Thursday evening (what were we thinking scheduling that???) made for a looooooooooong week. I am looking forward to the weekend even though it doesn’t look like much rest time.

I am linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share my favorites from the week.

Favorite 1: HALLOWEEN!! We had a wonderful Halloween! It was warm and sunny all day which made for perfect trick-or-treating weather. Jack has gotten pretty smart about his Halloween costumes. He picks an athlete who’s jersey he wants and decides to be that person for Halloween. Pretty smart, right? He was Antonio Brown this year. Luke decided to be Messi this year for Halloween. I was so glad the weather was warm so the boys could both wear shorts for their costumes. I reminisced about the kiddos’ Halloween costumes through the years here. Check it out! There are some cute animals, super heroes, and athletes!!

I love to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. The boys were invited to go to friends’ houses, but we chose to stay home. I love trick-or-treating in our neighborhood because I teach most of the kids and our kids can see a bunch of their classmates and neighborhood buddies. My mom came over to hand out candy which meant the four of us could take to the streets.

Jeff and I had a great time walking around together and the boys had so much fun! They both got a TON of candy and went to bed smiling.

Favorite 2: NO MORE BRACES!! Jack got his braces off on Monday morning and he was so excited!! Just in time for all the chewy Halloween candy! He has had quite the orthodontic experience. Over the course of 16 months, he had two bite plates, one upper expander, one lower expander, upper braces, bottom braces, and rubber bands. He’s getting a retainer next week. This is just phase 1 for Jack. He’ll go back for phase 2 in a few years, but he’s enjoying all the gum and chewy things he can!!

Favorite 3: OUR MAIN STREET! Our Main Street had the inaugural cider stroll last Sunday. I took the boys to do a little shopping and cider sipping. We had a great time and it was packed! It was so good for the small businesses on our Main Street. We tried a bunch of yummy ciders!

Favorite 4: SUNSHINE!! The weather warmed up this week and I got to run outside every day!! It was wonderful!! The kids played outside a bunch!! Everyone was happier to have that sunshine on their cheeks!

Favorite 5: BOOKS!! I love the moments that I can catch my boys reading! 98% of the time Jack will choose playing outside with a ball and Luke will choose playing in any form (sports, legos, guys, cars, etc.). So when I can catch the moments when they are reading and I didn’t tell them to, it is an instant favorite!

Favorite 6 is one I shouldn’t be loving just yet: HALLMARK CHRISTMAS MOVIES!! I am a strict “No Christmas until after Thanksgiving dinner” kinda girl, but these movies are sucking me in. I LOVE them!! I have always watched them throughout December, but I just can’t stop watching them already this year. Sorry Annie and Mom, I can’t stop!! On their own, the movies are great, but when you add Jeff’s color commentary they are so so great!! If you are with Jeff in the next two months, I highly recommend watching a Hallmark Christmas movie with him.

I even downloaded the app.

I hope you have a great weekend full of sunshine and books! We are headed to the boys’ first indoor swim meet of the season. Luke has a soccer game on Saturday.

I am hoping that I can get some good reading done in between the boys’ sports this weekend!!
