I was so excited for Friday, October 27. It was day 300 in my run streak. The day was busy, but I couldn’t let it pass without celebrating in some way. So, I headed over to the local high school track with my little cheering section and ran 3 miles for my 300th day.
Do you see how we made 300 here? i just love their enthusiasm for their running mama!
I participated in my first continuous streak challenge last year. My favorite running group, Fellow Flowers, held a “Move Your A$$” challenge. The goal was to keep moving to feel good from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day. The requirement was to move for 30 minutes every day. I surprised myself and didn’t miss one single day. I loved bringing yoga and deep stretching into my exercise routine.
My plan was to take a break on January 2nd, 2017. After all, I had moved my booty every single day for 39 days which was previously unheard of in my exercising. I was a girl who really appreciated a rest day. However, my January Fun Run Box had a different plan. The January challenge was to run at least 1 mile every day. I had just intentionally exercised for at least 30 minutes every day, I could totally do this. It takes me 10 minutes to run a mile and I made sure to find that 10 minutes every day.
We have a treadmill in the basement and my kids go to bed pretty early so there was literally no excuse not to run at least a mile every day. On February 1st, I looked at myself and could find no reason not to run. Same on February 2nd, February 3rd, February 4th…
And here I am! October 27th and Day 300 of this run streak. To say I am proud would be an understatement. To say that I am appreciative of the time my husband and kids make for me to run would be an understatement. To say that I love running with my friends, my kids, the Housewives (hello Bravo on demand), or alone is the big discovery here. I really, truly love running. My goal is to finish out the year and I have a fun group run and brunch planned for Dec. 31st. Something tells me that I just may get up and run that mile on January 1st.
