Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! Can you believe that this is the last Monday in October? I am not usually a “there are only ___ weeks until Christmas”, but I am feeling it right now. The next time we are together for Hello Monday will be NOVEMBER!! EEK!
Anywho, let’s get to the post! We had a great weekend with fantastic weather!! We got word that our new couch would be delivered on Saturday morning, so after school on Friday the boys and I played musical couches. The family room couch needed to go to the basement, the basement couch needed to go to the garage, and both areas needed to be cleaned before a new couch was in place. It sounds pretty simple, but the biggest part of our family room couch doesn’t fit through the back door. So we had to lift it over the kitchen counter, through the hallway, and out the front door. Then walk around the house and take it down the basement outside stairs. It was not our favorite thing, but we got it done! I decided that I was not cooking after all that fun, so we got carryout from a local pit meat restaurant. It was delicious! Jack and I worked on a few more college applications after dinner. I was hoping to report that he was finished applying today, but that is not the case. He’s pretty close and perhaps by next Monday he’ll be finished.
On Saturday, I slept in a little bit and then got up to get ready for the couch! Jeff and Jack went to the watch the boys’ soccer game. Luke stayed here with me for the delivery. He did a little schoolwork while we waited. I am happy to report that couch delivery is waaaaaay better than moving couches yourself. Also, this couch may have to be our forever couch because it was a VERY TIGHT SQUEEZE to get it in the front door. I love the couch! The color is perfect and it is so comfortable! However, there is one small problem. They ordered/shipped the wrong corner piece. We ordered a rounded corner because it is bigger and provides and extra seat and we got the square corner. I’ve talked to La-Z-Boys twice and they are being wonderful about it. We are getting a replacement in 4-8 weeks with no charge or anything. They are rushing it so hopefully it will be closer to 4 weeks.
On Saturday night, the boys had homecoming. The freshman, sophomores, and juniors dress up (suits and dresses). The seniors have a secret theme each year. This year the theme was Teen Beach Movie. Jack and his buds went as surfers. Both boys had a great time and made good choices (thank goodness!!).
I painted my nails while they were at the dance and used a new repair system. Lately, my nails have a lot of ridges and peel easily. I did a little research and found this rescue kit. It seems to be working because I used a shimmery nail polish and the ridges aren’t super duper obvious. When I ordered it, I thought it was a big deal, but then I realized the products are a smaller size than the ones I was comparing it to. I am still happy to have ordered it. Just wanted to point it out in case you were interested.
We got up and moving around 8:30 on Sunday morning. I headed straight to our new couch to watch Sunday Today and CBS Sunday Morning. The couch felt great for tv watching. After a bit of reading and tv, I headed outside to do a little yard work. We have a big grass plant and it had grown enough to put up seeds. I was tired of looking at it so I grabbed the hedge trimmers and started whacking it. I cut it all the way to the ground and then noticed that there were some weed/vines growing in it. I couldn’t leave them and ended up pulling a bunch of weeds around and under the deck.
We’ve been trying to do Jack’s senior pictures for a month. It keeps raining on Sunday afternoons! The weather was finally beautiful so we met the photographer at school on Sunday afternoon. Sarah has been taking our pictures for years. She used to babysit the boys and is so lovely, so she always gets great smiles from my guys. Just looking at the back of the camera images, I cannot wait to get the actual photos!!
If you are looking for a good seasonal book to read this week, I recommend this one. I am about halfway through but I am enjoying it. It’s a little witchy but not scary (yet). It is our pick for my school book club and I need to finish it by Thursday afternoon. Along those witchy vibes, I watched Hocus Pocus for the first time time this weekend. I love that movie!
This is going to be a pretty good week. The weather looks fantastic. I am hoping to spend most of my time after school outside. Tomorrow is the last Tuesday of the month so I’ll be sharing a reading update. Be sure to come back to see my reviews. If you blogged today, please link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
