Hello Monday – 8/31/26

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! I had another Summer Sarah weekend and it was great!

I had a great week back to work, but I am ready to get some kids in the building. It’s great to see my coworkers, but school is more fun with the kids there! I didn’t get around to posting much once my week got rolling. I don’t want to get to far into this post without remembering Dolly. I was so sad to hear of her passing. Dolly is such an incredible woman who did so much good for so many people. Her songs brought so much joy. Her giving has helped so many people. Dolly is truly one of the very best people to ever walk on the Earth. She was a champion of reading, always believed in herself, and never gave up. I have been listening to nothing but Dolly in the car and have loved how my social media feeds have been primarily wonderful things about Dolly. Even after she is gone, she’s uniting people!

I bet you’ve seen this already, but I am fully behind September 25th (9-25) being Dolly Parton Day and I will be celebrating her all day!

I made it to the pool two evenings this week after work to read. Jack and Luke were both working on Wednesday so I picked up dinner and we ate at the pool. I read some books for school while I was there. I took Luke to work on Friday afternoon and stayed to read for a few hours. I just love reading at the pool! It is one of the two places I feel like I can sit for a while and I don’t have to go do something. The other spot is the beach, of course.

I had another all-dayer at the pool on Saturday. I got there around 10 for lap swim and stayed until the pool closed at 8. The weather was absolutely perfect! Jeff had to go to work for a little while but came back and grilled dinner for us. The boys were working so we all had dinner at the pool. I stayed up way too late Saturday night. I do not read thrillers or suspenseful books because they keep me up at night. I was reading Run, Rose, Run by Dolly and James Patterson and got to the most suspenseful part. I had to finish the book so I could fall asleep. I’m glad I read it, but it will be a while before I attempt another book with some suspense.

Even though I was up late Saturday night, I was up around 7 on Sunday morning. I puttered around the house starting to think about the week. I got to the pool around 10 for lap swim. I swam and treaded with some friends. Then I hit my favorite spot, middle umbrella deep end, and started the grocery list for the week. I didn’t have many ideas for dinner so I crowd sourced and asked everyone at the pool what was for dinner this week. No one had much of a plan, but we got it figured out. I stayed at the pool for almost 6 hours. It was a little cloudy but then the sun came out and made a lovely afternoon. We had carry out for dinner and then the guys played Clue. The three of them LOVE Clue and I think it is hilarious to listen to them.

I’ve seen the trend on social media called Senior Sunday where you share a picture of your senior each week. I knew that might not be Jack’s favorite, but he didn’t mind the Senior Sundaes we had last night. It was a great way to cap off the weekend and get ready for senior year to start. It’s hard to believe that Jack starts his senior year this year, but I am so excited for him. I am a little nervous about starting with a full five day week, but it will be a good way to jump right into the routine. My guys have to go to school all five days but they have special schedules Monday-Wednesday and start their regular class schedules on Thursday.

I am sure this week is going to be great! I have a meal plan, groceries are ordered, our schedule is set, and the weather looks sunny. If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
