Hello Monday -2/2/26

Happy Monday! I’m starting the week with Holly and all of you! I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

Like most of our weekends lately, this was a swim meet weekend! Let’s start with Friday afternoon. Jack went to swim practice and out to dinner with friends. I picked Luke up from his practice and picked up dinner to eat at home. We decided to watch Cool Runnings. It’s a fun movie and we’re getting ready for the Olympics. Jeff came home as the movie was ending. Luke and I went to bed early because we had an early wakeup on Saturday.

Luke had to be at the pool at 7 am for morning warmups. It was his first high school championship meet and he was so excited. I was pretty excited, too! Jack swam in this meet for the past two year so I knew how fun it was going to be and how much fast swimming we’d get to watch. Luke crushed his morning swims! He dropped a ton of time and qualified for the state championship meet! It was his goal and he blew it out of the water, literally. It was so much fun to watch!! He also qualified to swim in finals (top 8 JV swimmers in each event) which was a first for him. Jeff came to watch him swim and cheer on the team, too.

That’s Jeff in black by the red step and repeat and Luke diving in third from the bottom.

We headed home to eat a little and rest between meet sessions. Jack had a golf lesson that went really well and was walking out right after we got home. He got back right as we were leaving for the evening session. I was bummed that I didn’t get to see him very much on Saturday, but he had a great day! Saturday night was so fun and a little bit of a learning experience for Luke. The strategy for swimming a prelims/finals meet is a little different than a timed finals meet. He added a little time in the evening session, but still did so well! Lucky Jeff got to be on deck for the celebrations! Luke’s team won the championship!! It was VERY exciting! The team and families went out to dinner after the meet and it was a blast. The boys were so happy!

So proud!! So excited!!

We took Sunday morning a little slower because we were up late on Saturday and we’ve been taking mornings a little slower after our snowy week last week. Jeff had to go back to the girls’ swim championship in the morning. The boys and I hung out and got a few things done at home. After being home for most of last week, there were somethings that needed to be cleaned up and put back together today. We did some laundry, did a little school work, and got ready for the week.

I made a big to do list of things I have been putting off. I have always been a procrastinator, but there are some things that I take to the next level. I love traveling, trying new things, and seeing new places. However, I have the most difficult time committing to it. It almost paralyzes me. After I think about it forever, look at all the options, think about it a bit more, and then stress that I haven’t booked anything, I finally take the plunge. Sunday afternoon was take the plunge Sunday. I booked flights for two trips and activities for a trip this summer. I have two hotels to book and almost pushed “book” but then I thought of a few more options and pulled right back to the thinking phase. Nuts! I was so close to getting it all done. I also got a few nontravel things done that have been on my list for a while. I booked my next blood donation appointment, spent some time with my calendar, did a little meal planning, and placed a grocery order.

I took a great yoga class Sunday afternoon on Peloton on Sunday. Chelsea Jackson Roberts’ 30 minute Top 50 Music Flow: #10-1 was so fun! The music was great and the class kept me moving. I love Peloton yoga, strength, sleep meditations, and outdoor walk/runs.

I did not read very much this weekend and I do not think February is going to be a big reading month for me. The Olympics are going to be on for 17 days. They tend to dominate my free time and I love it!

I got into bed a little early to watch the Grammys and paint my nails. It felt good to do a regular Sunday night routine. It looks like we are going to have a regular school week with five full days. WHAT?!? Do we even remember how to do that?? It’s still really cold here with no end in sight.

Today’s Groundhog Day. Will Punxsutawney Phil even be able to get out of his burrow with the frozen snow? Wouldn’t that be something if he was stuck in there?!? If he comes out, he better not see his shadow! Bring on the spring weather please!

So fun to see the boys celebrate after the swim meet! It sounds like Sunday was productive and booking airline tickets for 2 trips is a big step! I hope all the details come together for you soon. I love planning a trip. Enjoy your Monday and week back at school!

I can so relate to the second guessing especially when it comes to travel. Why do I do this? Good for you for doing the big parts – flights and dates! Happy Monday – love your screen saver!

Congrats to the swimmers! That’s exciting! I can be the same way when it comes to travel. Why is it so hard to commit? I need to book travel for a summer wedding which I think we’ll add a few days too and I just need to do it. I’m hoping Phil says we’re in for an early spring. We’ve had actual winter here with snow and ice and I’m ready for our more normal temps to return. Have a good week!

The “new” reply button is broken on my end but I can reply to someone else’s comment so that is why I’m commenting off of Holly’s reply. Anyway, congrats to Luke and his swim team! How exciting for him and the team!! I’m the same way about travel plans!! It can take so long and I always second guess my choices. Thanks for the link up and have a great Monday!

Ahh! I love Cool Runnings! I thought of that movie when I heard the Jamaican bobsleigh team had qualified for the winter Olympics. Well done to Luke with the swimming, it sounds like a fantastic meet! You must be so proud.
