Friday Favorites – 1/23/26

Happy Friday! Oh I am so happy to see this Friday! We’re having a great week and I am ready for a great Friday. I don’t have many pictures, but I do have a bunch of favorites. Let’s get to it…

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: BOOKS!! LIBRARIES!! I am not doing so well with my reading goal of a nonfiction book, a book from my shelf, and an older NetGalley book on my kindle. I am totally fine with it though because I am reading good stuff! I loved The Correspondent. I am enjoying My Southern Kitchen by Ivy Odom. I love to get cookbooks from the library before I decide to buy them. I picked up 36 books from our library yesterday. I was asked to read through them for a partnership between our school libraries and the public library.

Favorite 2: SNOW (but not frenzy)!! I am excited about the incoming snow this weekend, but I am not a fan of the frenzy. I ran to the store for a few things yesterday afternoon and I headed over to Walmart for a grocery pickup and it took me two hours to do it. What the heck?!? We are expecting a good bit of snow, but we will not be snowed in until next month. It may be a few days, but goodness. We will not starve folks. We are forecasted to get between 6-15 inches of snow and up to 1/4 inch of ice on top of that. With that much snow, we should have good sledding in our cornfield. We are also in the 6+ books range and I am ready.

We had some snow last weekend and it was beautiful. Luke still had his outdoor soccer game and had a blast! It was so lovely to watch the snow fall once we got home on Sunday evening, too.

Favorite 3: SWIM!! I missed part of Luke’s swim meet this week because I had conference night at school. My parents and Jeff’s dad were there to cheer him on. He swam really well, too! He only had one more race after I got there and it was amazing! He swam his heart out, swam really fast, and helped his relay win the event! Woohoo!

That’s Luke at the bottom left. Go Luke!

On Monday, I shared that boys were finishing their weekend meet. They both swam really well and it was so fun to watch them swim with Jeff! I am loving all of these swim meets.

Favorite 4: WORD SEARCHES! I have been working on my word search book a lot lately. I love that it keeps my brain working and keeps me off my phone. It’s an added bonus that I can be a part of the conversations and that Jack or Luke will join me when they walk by.

Favorite 5: SUNSHINE!! The sun was shining this afternoon and it was not too cold. I enjoyed spending a little time outside while I was waiting for my groceries. The sunshine felt great on my face.

Favorite 6: EMILY! I have been watching the new season of Emily In Paris this week and am loving it. Paris is gorgeous and I loved watching Emily there for a few seasons, but I am really loving Emily in Rome. I am only a few episodes in. It is so fun to watch and I can pop in to an episode when I have a little time to watch.

Favorite 7: GLASS! I shared our experience on Monday, but we had the best time blowing and shaping glass on Saturday. We all got to pick something to make and up to three colors. Then the artist walked us through the process. It was super hot (perfect for a winter day) and so fun!

Hello Monday
Books 2026
Wednesday Hodgepodge

I am hoping the snow doesn’t start until around 7 pm on Saturday like they are predicting now, so we can do everything I have planned. We are going to pick up our glass from last weekend and Luke has a swim meet. After that, the snow can fall as much as it wants as long as we keep our power. I have snacks, drinks, plenty of books, a puzzle, and snow boots for all four of us. Ar eyou expecting snow where you live? Have a great weekend full of snowy sunshine and books!

I think the same thing when I see empty store shelves and people running like mad– we live in New England big snowstorms used to just be a way of life and at no point in my 40+ years have we ever been stuck in the house for more than 2 days! I’m all stocked up on book as well as crafting supplies; I had a huge order arrive this week and I figure it will be perfect for this weekend. I do need to do our actual/regular grocery run though and I am dreading it.. I’m hoping to go early enough in the morning that it’s not too crazy.

I really appreciated the book weather map! So funny! The frenzy makes me feel anxious and I have to jump on the bandwagon.
I just don’t want to be trapped for too many days.
I did do a nice library pick up that included a cookbook, too!
