Happy Friday! I don’t have a big list of favorites but I am excited about all of them. I can’t wait. Let’s get to it!
Favorite 1: NORTHERN LIGHTS!!! Seeing the Northern Lights is on my bucket list and I was so surprised to see them on Tuesday night. My friend texted me that she could see them at a park near our house when I was at Luke’s soccer practice. We decided to head to the park on our way home, even though it was almost 10 pm. It seems like that was the perfect time. We saw a tinge of pink, but look what the camera picked up! Honestly, I teared up a little when I saw them. What an incredible phenomenon!
Favorite 2: AUTHORS!! I was so excited when I saw that Jamie Brenner was coming to town. I had to ask for some help to make it work, and I am so glad I did. Jamie’s interview partner was held up in traffic so she talked to us for a while and it was fantastic.
Then, oh my gosh, then her interview partner arrived. I had no idea that Alison Hammer was going to be there. In case you didn’t know, Alison is half of the writing duo Ali Brady!! I’ve never met her and was practically giddy when I realized who she was. What an exciting night!!
Favorite 3: HELP!! I am not always the best at asking for help. I will often do whatever I can to make it work, but I am trying to be better. Last night, Jeff’s mom got Luke from school and swim to soccer practice and treated him to dinner in between. It was great because I got to go to the author event and she and Luke had some time together. Win-win!
Favorite 4: BOOKS! Jamie Brenner’s new book, The Weekend Crashers, is about a knitting retreat! It inspired me to get my knitting bag out and keep working on my scarves. That’s all I can knit, but I do enjoy it. I finished one scarf with the help of a friend at school – I don’t know how to cast off – and am working on a second one.
I shared the Christmas books I am most excited to read this year on Monday. If you haven’t seen it, be sure to check it out. I didn’t mention Ali Brady’s new novella, but you should check it out! It is going to be so good!
Favorite 5: SWIM!! The boys swam in their first winter swim meet last weekend and it was so fun. I love swim meets! I get to see my swim parent friends, I get to cheer on the boys, and it is always warm in there! This meet was especially fun because Jack and Luke were in the same heat for an event!

We have a busy weekend full of good stuff! Today Luke has an intersquad/time trials meet and a soccer game. On Saturday, Luke has a soccer game, Jack has a swim meet, and their school is playing in the football championship game. Sunday will bring more soccer and more swimming. I will hopefully get some good walks and good reading in. I am going to bring my knitting with me, too. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!
