Monthly Musings – 10/30/25

Happy Thursday! It’s the last Thursday of the month so I am linking up with Holly and Patty to answer 10 fun seasonal questions. I love thinking about my answers and seeing everyone else’s answers, too!

This month we are talking about Halloween!

1-Favorite Halloween traditions – think back if you have littles? I love trick-or-treating! They have so much fun getting dressed up and running around the neighborhood. Honestly, even though it is an absolutely bonkers day, I love Halloween at school, too. The kids are so excited and it’s fun (and exhausting) to watch.

2-Any special Halloween dinners or spooky snacks? I usually make chili in the crockpot because it is ready when we get home and everyone can eat when they want to. My parents and Jeff’s parents have come to our house for Halloween and it’s an easy dinner. This year I am making mummy hot dogs because we aren’t so pressed for time to get out there. Jeff makes a delicious Halloween drink of apple cider and whipped cream vodka or caramel vodka. We’ve had it hot and cold depending on the weather.

3-What do you typically do on Halloween? We trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. The boys go with friends. Jeff or I tag along sometimes because it’s fun to walk around. Last year, I stayed home and handed out the candy. That was fun, too because I teach all the kids in our neighborhood!

Jeff and I traded off wearing the rainbow wig two years ago. 😂

4-Do you carve or paint pumpkins? We carve pumpkins! The past few years, I start out carving and the guys usually join me by the end.

5-Favorite Halloween candy? Reese’s for sure.

6-What are you giving out for Halloween this year? We have a mix of sugar candy and chocolate candy. I always like to have a mix for allergies and preferences.

7-Full size or fun size? Fun size over here. We get so many trick-or-treaters that full size would be sooo expensive.

8-Favorite Halloween costume of all time? I loved the year Jack decided to be a UPS driver. Luke wanted to be a house one year. It didn’t make it through trick-or-treating but I loved the creativity. Luke was an adorable Mickey Mouse one year. The super heroes with big muscles are too cute!

9-Favorite Halloween movies? I like The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Hocus Pocus. I am not a fan of scary movies at all!

10-What are trick-or-treat hours where you live? Usually we trick-or-treat on Halloween from 6-8 pm. I have a feeling it might go a little later this year because it is on a Friday night.

I hope everyone is ready for a fun Halloween tomorrow! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
