Wednesday Hodgepodge – 3/26/25

Happy Wednesday! I am joining Joyce for a quick hodgepodge of questions. These five questions are going to be fun, so let’s get to it!

1. Spring has officially sprung (in the northern hemisphere anyway)…did she roll in more like a lion or more like a lamb in your neck of the woods? What needs more of your attention in terms of a good spring clean this year-your house or your garden/yard?
Spring has been more of a lion than a lamb this year. There have been a few warmer days, but the wind has been so blustery. I am ready for some lamb days, please! I think our house and garden are both in pretty good shape. It’s too early to do my spring flower planting, but I do need to start thinking about it.

2. What’s put a spring in your step lately?
The sun staying up later has put a big spring in my step. I am enjoying that extra sunshine to run or walk or read.

3. When you were a kid, what was the best snack to find in your lunchbox? If you didn’t do the lunchbox thing, tell us what was your favorite after school snack.
I loved when we had Little Debbie fudge cakes as a treat! I also loved when my mom made peanut butter bars or freckle bars for our lunches.

4. In what area of your life are you planting seeds?
I am starting to plant the seeds of our summer. This summer is going to be different than our summers in the past, but it is ok. There are quite a few things I am trying to figure out and make work.
I am hoping that the local farms are planting some seeds too because I want to bring back our vegetable garden this year. We usually start it from seedlings, not actual seeds, so I hope they have some good ones for us.

5. Why do you live where you do? Would you consider living somewhere else? Why or why not?
I live where I do because it is close to family. I lived in North Carolina for a year after I graduated from college, but moved back to Maryland because I met Jeff and he was in grad school at the time. I thought we’d stay in Maryland for 3 years or less and then head south. 22 years later, we are still here. My parents are 25 minutes away and Jeff’s are 35 minutes away. I love that we are close to our parents and my kids have their grandparents close by. I would love to live somewhere warmer and closer to a beach. I don’t need to live on the beach, but it would be nice to be there in under 30 minutes. I love warm and hot weather and I don’t think I would ever get tired of it.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
The forecast says it is going to be 80 degrees on Saturday and I am so ready for it!
We are heading into birthday season and I am not ready for it. Both kids are having a hard time telling me what they want, how they want to celebrate, even picking out what kind of cake they want. I understand that it’s hard to pick sometimes, but time is a-ticking here and we need to make some decisions before the actual day!

That was fun! I can’t wait to see what everyone else answered! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
