Happy Thursday! This week is flying by and I feel like I haven’t had a minute to sit down and relax. We didn’t have school on Tuesday for our primary election day and I thought I would get so much done at home and on the blog, but I sure didn’t. I wanted to link up with a few other bloggers this week, so I am combining them into one big post for you today.
On Monday, Jen, Joanne, Sarah, Dara, and Adrienne hosted Share Our Lives. They asked us to share our 5 favorite and least favorite foods. I had a really hard time coming up with my five favorite foods. I have strong opinions about food, so I decided to share the first five foods that came to mind when I thought about what I loved or really didn’t like.
Five foods I love are pizza, cheesy dips, shellfish, peanut butter, and strawberries.
Five foods I cannot stand are brussel sprouts, coconut, bananas in something (smoothies, bread, etc.), oatmeal, and sauerkraut. I am actually gagging thinking about these.
On Wednesday, Joyce hosted the Wednesday Hodgepodge. The questions are:
What impresses you? I’d have to say hard work, talent, and good manners. When I see someone working really hard at something, I am always impressed. Along with that, when I see someone who is incredibly talented in an area, I am impressed. I realize that the hard work often is what makes the talent so impressive. I am also always impressed when somone uses good manners.
What is your family birth order? Do you fit the stereotype of that particular spot? In what way? I am the oldest child and I sure do fit that stereotype. I like to be in charge. I am the planner. I am organized. I make sure everyone is doing what they are suppossed to.
What motivates you more – a reward or a consequence? I’d say both. When I say I am going to do something, I usually do it. Do I like a reward? Yes. Will I do anything to avoid a consequence? Also yes. I am mostly motivated by not letting myself or someone else down.
May 14th is National Buttermilk Biscuit Day. Who thinks biscuits deserve their own day? Do you like biscuits? Make your own? Grab one for breakfast at a drive-through now and then? Which drive-through makes the one you like best? What do you like to put on a biscuit? What’s your favorite food or dish that calls for buttermilk? I think it is great for biscuits to have their own day. I do love a biscuit but the only kind we usually have are the can of Pillsbury. I like a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit from a drive-through and McDonald’s or Chick-fil-a is just fine. When I was in Asheville, NC a few years ago, we went to Biscuit Head restaurant and it was delicous! I don’t think I have ever cooked with buttermilk.
Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? What’s your favorite part of a wedding/wedding reception? We don’t have any weddings this summer, but we do have one in October. I love a wedding and wedding reception. Watching the groom see the bride for the first time is one of my favorite parts of a wedding. I also love to see the joy and excitement in the couple’s faces. At a wedding reception, I love the cocktail hour with yummy appetizers and the dancing!
Insert your own random thought here. Well, I will say I have had enough of this rain!! A local meteorologist posted this yesterday.
To be clear, that is 4.57 inches above average for rain so far this year. Enough already! To combat that rain, I am looking ahead to my sunshine filled Summer Beach Reads!
Today is Thursday, so it is also Fashion Files. While I’m linking up, I might as well do them all! Thanks to Kellyann and Jill for hosting.
I have been dressing for teacher survival this week. It’s May, we’re tired, the kids are bonkers, and I’m on my feet for most of the day. Here’s what I’ve been wearing lately.
Yesterday (Wednesday) I had a half day virtual meeting so this was perfect for a morning at school and an afternoon at home in front of my computer.
Cardigan / Jumpsuit / Sandals
Tuesday was Election day so I was “home” all day. My sister gave me this shirt a few years ago and I love it. We wore through a VHS of Troop Beverly Hills as kids and I still love it!
Joggers
On Monday, I was teaching and helped prune some ornamental grasses in our school courtyard so I needed to be comfy and have long sleeves.
All old: Lilly skort / Lilly shirt / JMU Nike quarterzip
Sunday was Mother’s Day and it was chilly so I wore an old Lilly popover.
Saturday was also chilly but we had a swim party and a lacrosse game. I wore an old Lilly shirt with a Vineyard Vines zip up.
I have no idea what I wore on Friday. Ha! On Thursday, I wore this comfy dress. I have it in green and navy and LOVE it! It is the dress of our school this spring. There were three of us wearing it on Thursday.
Dress / Sandals
On Wednesday, I wore this comfy romper to school and this fabulous dress out with my mom for dinner.
Romper / Sandals / Dress (I sized WAY down in the dress to XS. I am not usually an XS but it is roomy)
On Tuesday, I wore my favorite dress to school and to cheer Jack on at his golf match.
Dress / Sneakers
I was telling Jeff that I wanted to find some red sneakers because I don’t have any and Jack’s school colors are red and black. Brooks released this year’s USA shoes this week and sure enough, there is a mostly red one. I might have to add those to cart!

I am hoping for a sunny day or two to finish out the week, but the forecast doesn’t look like it’s cooperating. I guess I’ll have to make my own sunshine! I hope you find something to make your sunshine, too! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
