Happy Wednesday! We are having the most amazing weather this week! It makes everything seem a little bit better! I am linking up with Joyce for the first time ever. She hosts a weekly link up with random questions. I’ve seen Joanne particpate quite a few times and decided to join in today.
1. What’s a skill you think everyone should have?
There are a lot of important skills to have, but there are two that popped into my mind immediately. 1 – Swimming. I think it is so important to know how to swim. You don’t need to be an Olympic swimmer, but I do think everyone should be able to be in the water safely. Water is in my blood. My mom was a lifeguard and my dad grew up on the water. They both can swim. I learned to swim at a young age. Jeff learned to swim at a young age. We made sure that our kids could swim at a young age, too. 2 – Writing a thank you note. I know that many things are electronic now, but writing a good thank you note is a necessary skill. I don’t think I will ever change my mind about that.
2. Do you have a special place or organizational system for gift wrapping? Do you still buy ‘real’ cards to send for birthdays, anniversaries, get-well, etc?
I have an antique dresser that I use to organize my wrapping paper, tissue paper, and bags. I used to keep boxes in there too, but I kept too many to reuse. They are in a big tub near the dresser now. I do buy real cards for some occasions. Years ago I started saving the cards that Jeff and I gave each other and we reuse them year after year.
3. It’s National Banana Day…are you a fan? What’s your favorite thing to make with bananas or, if you’re not a cook, your favorite thing to eat that contains banana?
I will eat bananas if I must. I only eat them when they are green and just turning yellow. I do not like to use bananas in anything because their flavor takes over.
4. Do you believe in second chances? Elaborate.
I sure do. I love the saying “when we know better, we do better” and believe that people are always learning and growing. I also believe in the saying “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”. I usually don’t enforce it until it is fool me three or four times though. As an adult, I have learned that it is ok to not be good friends with someone if they are showing me that I am not their friend, but I am never rude about it.
5. What is your idea of fun?
Oh boy! There are so many ways to have fun! I have fun spending time with my family and friends. I have fun watching people I love have fun. I have fun being outside, going to the pool, going to the beach, traveling somewhere new, and revisiting somewhere I love. I am a person that has fun doing most things. I even have fun doing mundane things, like running errands. I am a big believer in making your own fun wherever I go. It might embarass my family sometimes, but I think they mostly appreciate the fun.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Wow, this could go in so many directions. Right now my thoughts are all about the countdowns! All of those sound pretty fantastic to me!
We have 37 days left of school!
There are 38 days until the pool opens!
There are 100 days until the Olympics!
Well, that was fun to think about. Number 6 is a wild card, but I am looking forward to seeing what other people have to say for that one. We have a pretty regular Wednesday today with practice for each kid and hopefully a run/walk for me around the track while Luke is practicing. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
