Reading Lately – 3/26/24

Happy Tuesday! I am linking up with Shooting Stars for a reading update and Joanne for Talking About It Tuesdays to show you the books I read this month.

The Paid Bridesmaid by Sariah Wilson ☀️☀️☀️☀️

I thought this book was so fun! The main character, Rachel, is a bridesmaid for hire. She has successfully created a business with women who were down on their luck and needed a job. These women will be your perfect bridesmaid and keep their employment agreement a secret to help a bride have their dream day. Unfortunately, this wedding is proving to be quite a challenge. There is a very handsome and curious groomsman who is trying to figure out just who Rachel is. I wasn’t surprise with the ending but it was a good one!

Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice by Elle Cosimano ☀️☀️☀️☀️

This is the fourth book in the Finlay Donovan series and it was just as fun as the other three. When I met Elle earlier this month, she let us know that there will likely be a 5th, 6th, and 7th book with Finaly and Vero! In this book, Finlay and Vero are headed to Atlantic City. Finlay’s mom, kids, and ex-husband end up tagging along. Finlay and Vero are trying to figure out what happened to their car, Vero’s friend, and a lot of money. Theo usual hijinks prevail and there are some laughs and suspense the whole way through the book. I am a bit of a ninny when it comes to suspense and these books keep me on the edge of my seat/pillow, but they aren’t scary. Most of my friends did not think they were very suspenseful at all.

Evil Spy School by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

Luke and I are back to our audiobook soccer drives. He listened to the first two Spy School books and enjoyed them, so we picked up with book three. Evil Spy School is perfect for Luke and I am really enjoying it too. The main character, Ben, is a junior spy for the CIA and ends up in an enemy spy school. He is there as a plant to learn about the spy’s next devastating plan and report back to the CIA. There are some funny characters and wild events. We laughed out loud quite a few times. I highly recommend it for intermediate and middle school readers.

A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold

This book is our school wide reading program book this year. The kids and teachers are loving it. Bixby, called BAT, is so excited when his mom brings a baby home from her veterinary practice. The book follows Bat as he navigates making friends, going back and forth between his parents’ houses, and trying to be the best caregiver for the baby animal. Bat is so endearing and I will probably read the next two in the series!

EdTech Essentials: The Top 10 Technology Strategies for All Learning Environments by Monica Burns ☀️☀️☀️☀️

This was my textbook for the class I was taking and it is full of great information. As I was looking around for more information, I saw that this has been updated to include AI. I am not ready to read another tech textbook, but I will probably read the updated version this spring or summer.

Currently Reading: Take Two, Birdie Maxwell by Allison Winn Scotch

Currently Reading: Spy Ski School by Stuart Gibbs (audio)

You can always checkout what I’ve been reading on my Books 2024 page. I have all of my yearly reading pages linked here if you want to see what I’ve been reading for the last 5 years.

I enjoyed all the books I read, but this wasn’t a big reading month for me. I think it was because I was taking a class that was a lot more work than I was expecting. We have a short spring break coming up and I am hoping to finish at least two books. We are staying home, but hopefully there will be some warm sunshine to read in and enjoy! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
