Happy Wednesday! It’s the last Wednesday of the month so I am sharing what we’ve been up to. Let’s get to it!
WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK…
What I’m reminiscing about…
My Facebook memories have been so good lately! So many cute pictures of the boys including Jack’s first haircut and Luke’s first bath in the big tubby.
WHAT I’M LOVING…
We had the most beautiful day on Monday! When I got home, it was in the 60s and the sun was shining. Luke went right outside to play with the neighbors and I hit the pavement for a good walk. I grabbed a quick sunshine picture with him before I left.
I am loving mid week meal planning and grocery pickup. It is crazy how much healthier/better we are eating on the weekends because the pantry and fridge are full going into the weekend. I do a grocery pickup on Thursdays right after work and it sets me up for success. We also haven’t been eating out on the weekends as much because I’ve made a plan and the ingredients are here.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…
I shared our trip to Destin for Jack’s golf tournament this week. We had a great time!
I listened to Pat McGee Band a bunch in college and saw them at parties and “restaurants” a good bit. I haven’t seen them in almost 20 years, but they came to town on Sunday. It was a matinee show (which I loved) and I had a great time! I went with some girlfriends, but we didn’t take a single picture. I did run into my cousin, his wife, and her sister and husband. The two guys went to JMU and are Pat McGee fans too. The concert was so good!
When I was in college, I hopped on their tour bus/van and hung out with them after a show. I was such a fan that I had them sign my belly (why? I have no idea…) and showed Pat the picture from my college photo album. It was too funny and we laughed a bit about it. Don’t worry, we didn’t reenact it!
WHAT I’M DREADING…
That warm sunshine on Monday got me all ready for spring, but we’ll be back in the 40s tomorrow. March is a fickle month in Maryland. We’ll get some sunshine in the 60s and then, BAM, back to the 40s with a threat of flurries. I always get my hopes up, even though I should know better after 43 years here.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON…
I am taking a 1 credit class right now on a technology infused classroom and it is a lot of work. The first week was out of control: read 4 chapters and write 4 learning journal entries with paragraphs long answers to questions about each chapter, do two discussion board posts and responses, watch two videos with graded questions insterted, create a flip video introducing ourselves and respond to classmates if so inclined, write a full lesson plan, watch another video and write a learning journal response, read three more articles, watch 7 shorter videos, build a digital toolbox by watching 7 more longer videos and exploring the website/app so I feel comfortable teaching with them. We were only supposed to spend about 4 hours/week on the course. There was no way that was happening!! I emailed my professor and he has drastically reduced the work load for the last three weeks. I was ready to quit, but so grateful for the positive response from the professor.
After this class ends, I am taking another 4 week, 1 credit class on SEL (social emotional learning). I am very curious about both of these topics so I decided to opt in when our local college presented them to the teachers in our county. Technically, I don’t need to take any more classes ever, but I want to keep learning and bettering my teaching.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…
Spring is always a busy season and I am excited for this spring. Jack’s high school golf season is starting. Luke’s lacrosse season is starting. Luke’s outdoor soccer is coming back.Short course swim season is wrapping up with a championship meet in March. I will be cheering on the boys all season long, like usual, and I am excited for it!
My word of the year is Experience and I am excited for the plans I am making for this year. Michael Franti is coming to our area and I got tickets! The concert isn’t until summer, but I am already excited about it.
My amazing bookstore and public library have quite a few authors coming soon that I am excited to see. I am going with a few girlfriends to see an author in a few weeks and have my calendar packed with a few others in the spring.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…
I shared what I’ve been reading yesterday. There was a little romance, a little suspense, and a little magic.
I’ve been watching game shows if I turn the tv on in the evenings. They’re entertaining and I don’t have to pay full attention to them. I usually read, or blog, or chat with the boys while we are watching. Luke and I watched The Kid Who Would Be King on Disney+ this weekend. It was a fun Sword and the Stone story.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…
As I type this, I am listening to an episode of Best Laid Plans podcast. It’s fun to listen to and helps me think about goal setting, using my planner, and making the best use of my time!
I have been listening to my usual podcasts (Mel Robbins, I’ve Had It, The Lazy Genius, The Mom Hour, The Girl Next Door) and music. I have been loving Beyonce’s new singles! I listened to Pat McGee Band a bunch recently to get extra excited for the concert.
WHAT I’M WEARING…
Aerosoles! You may remember that I bought a few loafers from Aerosoles this year because I need comfortable shoes when I am on my feet all day. Yesterday I decided to wear a pair even though my foot was already hurting when I woke up. It was such a great choice! My foot felt great all day and didn’t even bother me to exercise in the afternoon. I got the Over Drive loafers, but they are only available in navy now. When I went to get the link to share, I saw these mules that might end up at my house…
The weather was warm enough for a dress this week and I pulled this old favorite out of my closet.
I am ready to wear all the bright colors and brought the pink this week. These Amazon loafers are so comfortable!
The bright orange called my name on Sunday. Here are those Aerosoles loafers. So comfy!
I am loving my new Lulu’s sweatshirt!
Powersoft joggers and pants still have my heart! They are so comfy!
These Amazon joggers and tank tops are so comfy and I’ve been wearing them a bunch, too.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND…
We are celebrating Jeff’s parents’ 50th anniversary this weekend. We are all looking forward to it and are so grateful for their wonderful example of marriage and family!
We have a lot to look forward to this month and I am excited for it. I have a feeling I will be listening to a bunch of podcasts and need to pick an audio book for all the driving that I will be doing to and from practices, games, and matches. I’ll be back tomorrow to share some thoughts on surviving the winter months. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
