Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly and I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!
I usually share my weekend on Hello Monday, but it looked like this for 9+ hours Saturday and Sunday.
My friend Jamie’s son was swimming in the meet, too. I was a marshal in that lovely vest on Saturday, but I got to see Jamie on Sunday! Jamie and I first swam together as 8 year olds and continued on through high school. We still talk every day, but I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like so this day was a treat!
It makes me happy to cheer on the boys, but it doesn’t make for a very interesting post. Ha!
Last Tuesday, we had a snow day and I decided to document a snow day in the life. I’m not sure if I’ve done this before, but here goes. On Monday night, our district called a two hour delay with re-evaluation so I set my alarm for 6:10 and signed up for a live Peloton class. I followed up the Jermaine Johnson live class with a recorded Dennis Morton yoga class. It felt great.
By the time I finished, we knew school was canceled for the day because it was really snowing!
Everyone was still asleep so I put the snow day signal on and went back downstairs.
I brought a big pile of sheets and towels upstairs to fold while I watched the Today show. I ALWAYS watch the Today show on snow days!
I am not a coffee drinker. I never have been and I probably never will be. I do love a caffeine boost in the morning so I poured my morning Diet Pepsi with my favorite nugget ice.
Everyone was still sleeping at 7:45 so I mixed up some muffins for breakfast and headed back to the Today show. When the boys were little, we used to eat these muffins a lot. We haven’t had them in a while, but I saw them in the grocery store last week and thought they’d be a nice snow day breakfast treat.
Luke joined me around 8. The smell of muffins must have woken him up.
I decided right then and there that I was going to stay put for the entire Today show which is practically unheard of. My electric blanket was so warm and cozy and it was still snowing pretty hard!
I emptied the dishwasher, cleaned up breakfast, and came right back to to that blanket to work on some blog posts.
I committed to the couch and finished Honestly Elliott! I loved it!
The boys have swim from 4-645 and 630-8 on Tuesdays. It messes with dinner so I decided to make dinner for lunch. I used a CleanFoodCrush recipe and it was delicious!
The kids headed back outside after lunch and it was STILL snowing!
I cleaned up lunch and packed the leftovers up for someone’s lunch that week. Then I got dressed and headed out for a walk. I love to walk in the snow, even if it’s freezing!
Jeff took Jack to swim and Luke and I started working on 7th grade social studies. Luke was still making up work from being out for 3 days last week.
Luke kept working and I pulled out my work computer to figure out what the plan was for Wednesday.
Jeff did the swim team switch and I got some biscuits ready for breakfast this week. My guys love an egg or egg and cheese biscuit for a quick school morning breakfast.
When we were all ready for the next day, I went back to the couch to finish my second book for the day. I loved The Year of Second Chances! It was a good story of love, friendship, taking a chance, and listening to your inner voice.
Jeff picked Luke up from swim and we all got ready for bed. I started a new book that had just come in on my library holds. A Winter in New York was perfect to end our snowy day. We got the call that it was a two hour delay on Wednesday, too. So I set my alarm for 6:05 and headed to bed.
I usually go play in the snow with the kids for a bit, but I just didn’t feel like it this time. We had another snow day on Friday last week and I joined the kids for a few runs down the sledding hill. Jeff does all our shoveling because he’s always looking for a little physical activity when we’re stuck at home. This was a pretty restful snow day for me, but I really enjoyed it. Do you get snow days? Do you have things you ALWAYS do on a snow day? I love a snow day, but I am hoping this is our last one for a little while. We could use a little routine this week. Don’t forget to link up with us below if you blogged today! Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
