Hello Monday – 11/27/23

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our week. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday! I was planning to share some of this on Friday, but I did not get to the post. Tuesday and Wednesday did not go quite as planned at school, so things spilled into the evening when I was planning to write my Friday Favorites post.

On Tuesday afternoon as I was unpacking my book fair, I realized they didn’t send an entire case/shelf of books. It’s a LOT of books missing and I was not happy! I spent a good bit of time on the phone with the company on Tuesday and Wednesday, but couldn’t get it resolved. I am hoping they have a very quick solution when I get to school this morning.

I was slowly working on Christmas decorating on those evenings, too. I usually do Christmas decorating over the course of two weekend days and bang it out, but this year I tried to do it in fits and spurts. I finished on Sunday afternoon, but our house was a little chaotic for the week.

A lit Christmas tree and my light up turkey at the same time 😊

On Wednesday, after I made an amazing gluten-free, dairy-free pumpkin pie with a graham cracker crust, Jeff and I went to Starbucks for a little bit. It was great! We sipped hot tea and made a plan for Christmas gifts that we still needed to get. I walked out of there feeling prepared and knowing what we were looking for in the next few weeks.

My sister and her family got to my parents house on Wednesday afternoon and it was so good to see them! We stayed for dinner and then headed home so they could get settled and we could get ready for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving morning was busy. Jeff was running, like in charge, of a turkey trot. Luke was supposed to run it, but he is still on total activity restriction so he went to help Jeff. Jack played golf with my dad, Jeff’s dad, and my brother-in-law. I hung out with my mom, sister, and niece to watch the parade and get Thanksgiving dinner going.

My Uncle Roger and Aunt Donna joined us in the early afternoon. It was so great to see them. Hi Aunt Donna!! (She’s an avid reader of the blog.😊) I went for walk through town and enjoyed some sunshine before getting busy in the kitchen.

I was grabbing an apron and found this one! I have so many memories of my mom wearing this Pappagallo apron and was so happy to wear it.

Thanksgiving was fantastic! We had a delicious charcuterie board and dinner was so tasty, as usual. The eleven of us gathered around the table and talked, laughed, and of course ate! Aunt Donna and I went for a walk down to Main Street to see it all lit up and it was beautiful! We headed home after the dishes were finished for the night.

On Friday, I joined my mom and sister for a girls’ morning. Then we met Aunt Donna, Uncle Roger, Dad, Zach, and Maggie for lunch. It was so yummy and I ran into a good friend that I hadn’t seen in a while. That is one thing I love about going out there. I always see someone I haven’t seen in a while.

Jeff and the boys came up for the afternoon and dinner on Friday. Jeff, Jack, Zach, and my dad went to the simulator for a while. I stopped by to visit them on a walk. After that we just visited and watched football and Christmas movies.

Annie and I took the kids on a short walk to burn off a little energy before heading home. My parents’ town has lights covering the trees and plays Christmas music from Black Friday afternoon through Christmas Day. It was great!

On Saturday, we went back to my parents around 10 to help move some furniture. Annie and Zach were taking a few things back with them. My parents wanted to move some chairs around. So, we came with our muscles ready to pitch in. While Jeff was helping move furniture and Jack was at the simulator, Luke and I met Annie and Maggie at the park. Luke had to move VERY GENTLY, but he could still play with Maggie a bit.

Later, Jeff and I went for a walk to do a little Small Business Saturday shopping. We went to the indie bookstore and cafe. We got two great books and a yummy peppermint hot chocolate. We stopped in to a few more stores on our walk back to my parents’ house.

Then it was time for one of my favorite traditions – dinner and the electric lights parade! I think we’ve only missed a year or two in the past 13. We always run into great friends at the restaurant and on the street for the parade. This was Maggie’s first year and she LOVED all the lights!

As we were walking home from dinner, we saw the Christmas tree lighting and a light display in the park. It really feels like a Hallmark movie!

Then we hung out at my parents’ house until Maggie went to bed. Annie and Zach needed to pack up the car and we were ready for bed.

We spent Sunday finishing Christmas decorating. I added ornaments to our outside tree this year (Thanks Mom!) and did some of the lights outside before it started raining. All of the trees are up inside. I have some more lights to do outside. I am hoping to get them done this week so we can enjoy them for the rest of the year!

I hope you had a great week. I am heading into the busiest week of the year in the library – Book Fair Week – but I am excited about it. If you blogged today, be sure to link up with us below. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!
