Hello Monday – 2/27/23

Happy Monday! I’m here with Holly sharing some fun from our weekend. I hope you’ll link up with us for Hello Monday!

We had a great weekend with some big events! I took a half day on Friday because Jack had a big orthodontist appointment. I knew his mouth was going to hurt after the appointment, so we went out to a big lunch beforehand. It was great to spend some time with him and we got to laughing so hard as we were leaving the restaurant. It is always good to hear your kids belly laugh!

The boys’ middle school had a dance on Friday night. Jack didn’t want to go, but Luke did. He invited some friends over before the dance and they were so great! They played outside for a bit, came in and ate like a swarm of locusts, and headed to the dance. This was the first time Luke has had a bunch of friends over in a while and they are all great kids. He had the best time at the dance and is so glad he went. Jack went to swim practice and got home around the same time as Luke. We spent Friday night sitting around the dining room table laughing and talking about their week.

Jeff and I ran a few errands together on Friday night while the boys were at the dance and swimming. The glow from brake lights is lovely, isn’t it?

Saturday was the beginning of the end of basketball. Jeff has been coaching Jack’s travel basketball team since third grade. The six years of practice, games, and fun have been so wonderful. They played in multiple leagues, all four seasons, and against a bunch of teams. I am so proud of the way Jack has grown as a player and how Jeff has coached these boys. Saturday was the last game in the league have been playing in since fourth grade. It was great to watch them play there one more time.

Gigi and Pop came to cheer Jack on!

After the game on Saturday, I stopped by my friend Jamie’s house to pick up a blanket. She crocheted a lap blanket for me and it is absolutely beautiful! This chilly weekend was perfect for curling up under this gorgeous blanket!

Then I headed to my dad’s garage. He has been preparing the garage for a golf simulator. It was finally ready on Saturday afternoon and we had a blast!! My dad and his friends have been working so hard to make this dream come true and I am so happy for him! We all hit on the driving range and shared a round of golf. I am certain that we will be spending a lot of time in that garage!

On Saturday night, we miraculously had nothing to do. I decided that Jeff and I were going out to dinner and then we met up with some friends we hadn’t seen in a while. We ended up closing down the restaurant and it was great to catch up with them!

On Sunday, they played their last game in the league they’ve played in since third grade. I am not going to lie, I got a little teary walking up the stairs to the viewing area. The number of games they’ve played and how they’ve grown just got me. That darn passage of time gets me every time. I can’t believe that these six years have gone so quickly. I am so proud of the Jack’s sportsmanship, skill, and the way he is a teammate.

I am so proud of these boys and coaches. They have a fun practice left and we are going to celebrate them next weekend at their team party, but the games are complete after 6 wonderful years!

I start teaching in our after school program this week so things are going to get a little bit busier for the next 10 weeks. Spring sports start soon and then we will really be off to the races! I hope you have a great Monday full of sunshine and books!
