Friday Favorites – 4/8/22

Happy Friday! I have a quick list of favorites for you today. It’s full of sunshine & books!

Linking up with Erika and Andrea

Favorite 1: BOOKS! I have been reading and listening like crazy this week! I finished two audio books and two ebooks. I loved The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey and The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanan. Luke loved The Spy Who Loved Ice Cream (#2 in the Spy Penguins series). I was a little disappointed in Open Book by Jessica Simpson. I’d heard a lot of great things about it and I was looking forward to her reading it, but it wasn’t for me. I finished it, but I listened to it on 1.5x after the first few chapters.

I started Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman, which comes out next month. I got so excited because in the first few pages Nina Hill pops up. Nina was the main character in Abbi’s book The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. I love when authors bring characters back!!

Favorite 2: PLAYING!! The kids had an early dismissal day on Monday. I love those days because there are bunch of kids playing outside in the neighborhood. The rain stopped for a little while on Wednesday afternoon and a bunch the kids were outside playing again. I love the weather warming up and more kids playing outside consistently. We have a net for the driveway, but Jack and Luke were using the house as their tennis net this week. 😂

Favorite 3: LIBRARIES!! April is School Library Month and this is Library Week. I made sure to visit my public library this week. They had a contest recently to design a new library card. They are selling them for a fundraiser. I was happy to get one, especially since our library is fine free. I checked out a bunch of picture and middle grade books to get ready for next year’s Battle of the Books selection committee.

My school library has been a busy place this week, too! I kicked off our school-wide book club by handing out 550 books to students and staff! We are reading a few chapters a week and talking about it in classes. Spring According to Humphrey is a big hit already!

Hello Monday – April Goals
Currently

This weekend Luke has a lacrosse and a soccer game. Jack has a golf match. I have a virtual baby shower for my cousin and I’m looking forward to seeing my cousins, even if we’re online. I’m going to keep working on those April goals. Have a great weekend full of sunshine and books!

We LOVED Humphrey! He was always such a fun character. I’ve already been to my library twice this week.

Over break, the kids and I went to the library, and it was the best. Hayden, my reader, said he thought the library looked different…& I realized he hadn’t been in our library since March 2020. (We’d still do curbside pick up and he’s gotten books from school and Amazon but hasn’t been in our library in over 2 years) we were there for about 30 min and it was so nice
