Not Just A Mom – 9/15/21

Happy Wednesday! I am sharing my morning routine today. I totally missed the Not Just A Mom linkup on Monday, but it is one of my favorite topics – routines. I love to have a routine and to see other people’s routines.

Linking up with Jen and Joanne and the ladies

I am in the process of figuring out my morning routine right now. In years past, I would always exercise in the morning before school. This year is a little different. Jeff changed jobs and is going to be home a lot more now (YAY!!). That means I am trying to figure out if I can make it work to exercise in the evenings while the kids are at a practice. So we are taking a look at my new morning routine today. I love a routine and thought this was a great thought about routines.

I don’t have a ton of pictures because it usually looks like an efficient Tasmanian Devil like person cruising through my house.

5:30 am – My alarm goes off and I hit the snooze button immediately. I actually hit the snooze button a few times in the morning. I don’t go back to sleep but I stay in bed. I learned this summer that I love laying in my bed to start the day. During this time, I read, look at social media, read some blogs, or check emails.

6:00 am – I get up and head to the bathroom to start getting ready. I put my contacts in and brush my teeth. Then I hop in the shower. I have to shower every single morning. My curly hair NEEDS a reset every day to look good.

6:25 am – Time to make sure Luke is up for school. Some mornings he is up well before 6:25, but some mornings I have to drag him out of bed. I start getting dressed, picking out my jewelry, and putting on a very little bit of makeup.

6:40 am – Head downstairs to make breakfast and get lunches together. I pack the kids’ lunches the night before but they need to put an ice pack in and get it in their book bags. I am try to pack my lunch the night before but there are quite a few mornings that I put some things together in the morning. I make my breakfast and take it with me during the time, too.

6:53 am – I head back upstairs and make sure Jack’s feet are on the floor. He doesn’t meet the bus for another 40 minutes but I need to make sure he’s awake before I leave. While I’m doing this, Luke is in getting in the car. I dash down and load my stuff in the car and we try to pull out of the driveway at 6:56 am. I know it’s a weird time, but it gets up to school with enough time to get ready for the day.

I love a fried egg on toast for breakfast and I’ve been taking it in the car lately.

7:05 am – Head into school and get ready for the day. I always go to the cafeteria first thing to fill my cups with ice. I love our cafeteria’s ice machine and fill my cups up at least twice a day. Some days I have a bus or hallway duty and some days I do checkout in the library. Luke hangs in the library until the bell rings at 7:15 and then heads to class.

Do you feel ready to teach in an elementary school library? That’s how I start my day this school year. I can’t wait to look at everyone’s routine, too. Have a great day full of sunshine and books!

I love hearing about other’s routines! You have your morning down to a science. I need to be better about packing my lunch the night before. Also, I’m glad I’m not the only one who hits snooze 😂

Wow!!! Your kids have to be at school so early. Sam has to be out the door by 8:05 to catch the bus and that’s been a stretch for us.
